Wang Hao’s origins are unusually resistant to divination. According to Zhen Yuanzi, he is beyond fate, and even a Sage can uncover little beyond his claim to have come from “Beyond Heaven.” Patriarch Bodhi—one of Zhunti’s Three Corpses—accepts him as a nominal disciple 543.

Despite not being destined to participate, Wang Hao becomes a protagonist of the Journey to the West Kalpa. He takes on part of the dragon race’s karma and rapidly reaches Heavenly Immortal. Chen Fan later learns that he also has a karmic connection with the Spiritual Understanding Stone Monkey 543 638.

His schemes extend into earlier Primordial World events. Donghuang Taiyi recounts that Wang Hao advised him to entrust a strand of true spirit to the Chaos Bell and create the Battered Demon Realm as a chance of surviving the Witch-Demon Kalpa. Danger rarely strips him of his irreverence. While trapped in a hostile game-like realm, he jokes about being the “turtle caught in the jar” and bluntly dismisses his opponent’s superiority.
