Personality

Zhao Wuji is fiercely protective of Shrek’s students, but does not excuse their misconduct. Upon learning that Ning Rongrong, Xiao Wu, and Zhu Zhuqing caused trouble at the Heavenly Secrets Tower, he reprimands them and promises punishment after their return. He nevertheless insists that Shrek should handle their discipline, first offering compensation and then threatening force when Li Tianyuan refuses 29.

His confidence in his rank makes him underestimate Li’s youthful appearance. Even after being knocked out of the tower, he angrily rejects the suggestion that he should answer for his conduct. Defeat changes his approach: he apologizes, accepts punishment, and warns Flender against repeating his mistake. His later respect for Li includes genuine gratitude for being spared 29 30 31 32 45.

Attempted Rescue at the Heavenly Secrets Tower

Ma Hongjun brings Zhao Wuji to the tower after the students fail to secure the three girls’ release. Zhao hears Ning Rongrong’s account, scolds the intruders, and asks Li Tianyuan to hand them over to Shrek. His offer of a later apology gift is rejected, and the dispute escalates into a fight 29.

Li uses the confrontation to test his newly acquired Heavenly Demon Hand. Zhao is first thrown out of the building, then driven back when his Great Strength Vajra Palm fails. He calls the black hand an evil technique and activates his Martial Soul Avatar to force Li to reveal his identity. The transformation is overwhelmed by Bombardment, leaving Zhao injured and unable to counterattack 30 31.

Facing another descending palm, Zhao surrenders. Li stops the attack a meter above him, spares his life, and orders him to accept punishment alongside the students 31.

Detention and Responsibility for the Students

Zhao becomes an attendant at the tower and sends Ma Hongjun to fetch Flender, specifically warning that the dean must not act rashly. He suspects Li may be a young Soul Douluo, possibly from Spirit Hall, but does not know his actual background 32.

Flender and Yu Xiaogang fail to negotiate his release. Li demands 100,000 Gold Soul Coins each for Zhao, Tang San, and Dai Mubai, while setting a separate three-year unpaid-service punishment for the girls. Zhao remains outside with the students, embarrassed and increasingly frustrated by the lack of a rescue 33 34.

Before leaving for Sunset Forest, Li orders Zhao to guard the tower, keep the Shrek group there, and accept responsibility if anything goes wrong. Zhao obeys and refuses Dai Mubai’s request to return to the academy. Release and Return to Shrek

When Li returns, he praises Zhao for keeping his word. Zhao remains deferential and rebukes Dai Mubai for insinuating that Zhu Zhuqing is unsafe alone with Li 43.

Ning Fengzhi eventually pays 500,000 Gold Soul Coins to secure the Shrek group’s release. Zhao thanks Ning, bids Li farewell, and offers his future assistance in gratitude for Li’s mercy. Back at Shrek, he confronts Flender resentfully over the prolonged detention 45 47.

Despite his defeat at the tower, Zhao remains an authoritative figure at the academy. His aura promptly checks Yu Tianheng and Dugu Yan’s dismissive attitude toward Shrek before he questions them about their identities 48.
