Gu Yuanqing opened his Void Piercing Heavenly Eye and looked at the threads of karma entwined around him.
Countless illusory threads of karma, as fine as hair and in myriad colors, stretched in every direction and vanished into the void.
These threads of karma were all different.
The first kind was innate karma of origin, present from birth. For instance, being born into the Gu Family had established his karma with both the Gu Family and the Great Qian Dynasty. These causes concerned the very foundation of his existence. Once that destined bond was settled, the karma would sever itself.
The second kind was karma of personal ties, born of relationships and bound to gratitude, grudges, love, and hatred.
The third kind was karma of good and evil. Whether one did good or evil, one would affect others, and karma would naturally arise.
These three kinds of karma were all relatively easy to resolve, provided one knew how.
Gu Yuanqing had rarely left his mountain throughout his life. Compared with ordinary cultivators, who had to fight for opportunities and cut a bloody path through countless living beings to attain their present Dao Fruits, he had far fewer threads of karma.
The thickest of these threads extended into the Fa Yuan Realm. He needed little thought to know whom they connected to.
Yet there was one final kind of karma, the hardest to resolve: the karma of heaven and earth.
He had been born in the Qian Yuan Realm, which was itself part of the Profound Cosmos Great World. Having grown up in this world, the entirety of his origin had come from it.
The debt of being born of heaven and nurtured by earth outweighed all others.
Even though his later growth had mostly relied on the North Spring Realm,
