Background / History
Floating World origins
Before its rise, the Floating World had a discernible outer boundary. After reaching the Divine Platform Realm, Gu Yuanqing discovered that its sun, moon, and stars might be manifestations of arrays or Dao Resonance rather than ordinary celestial bodies. North Spring Mountain’s spiritual energy was already enriching distant earth-vein acupoints 153.
Its growing resources attracted six outsiders representing five aristocratic clans. All were at least ninth-layer Divine Platform cultivators, and they discussed dividing the world’s territory among themselves. Gu Yuanqing subsequently compelled several surviving outsiders to cooperate with the imperial courts in spreading cultivation teachings 173 182.
World Conflict and transformation
Victory in the World Conflict brought the origin of the Slanting Moon World into Qian Yuan. New boundary regions formed, the Great Dao became more apparent along its borders, and newly emerged treasures supported further cultivation. Li Chengyi delayed outside contact while the realm absorbed these gains 475 512.
After all five Qian Yuan Tokens were recovered, Great Qian activated the Teleportation Array. Relations with the Purple You Realm followed, bringing foreign envoys, merchant houses, and wider recognition throughout the Exquisite Worlds 490 493 494 499.
Rise to regional prominence
Gu Yuanqing’s strength made Qian Yuan a counterweight to the Primordial Divine Sect. When harassment of Qian Yuan cultivators intensified in the Ancient Realm, he authorized a firmer response. Qian Yuan forces repelled the Yan Shen Sect and Nether Sea Palace without his direct intervention 688.
The Qian Yuan Divine Hall network later extended the realm’s influence through cultivation access, instruction, and merit exchanges. Gu Yuanqing’s month-long preaching produced widespread breakthroughs and a profound response from the realm’s own spiritual energy and Dao power 714 716 895.
Geography and Cultivation Environment
North Spring Mountain
- Spiritual center: North Spring Mountain has the realm’s densest spiritual qi. Foreign investigators suspected it stood at the ancestral vein of Qian Yuan’s vital energy, though their explanation involving an ancient legacy and seal remained conjecture 510.
- Connected but distinct: North Spring Grotto-Heaven remains linked to Qian Yuan’s earth veins while developing into a separate existence. It should not be confused with the Qian Yuan Realm itself 476 512.
- Continuing benefits: The later North Spring Realm strengthens Qian Yuan through their connected earth veins. By the late story, major sect residences possess spiritual qi comparable in purity and density to Spirit Realm cultivation sanctuaries 1121.
Great Dao and cultivation
- Distinctive Dao: Qian Yuan’s Great Dao develops through the Spirit Realm’s Great Dao while also existing beneath a Rule Divine Artifact’s power. Their interaction produces principles unlike those of the Spirit Realm alone 895.
- Strong foundations: Qian Yuan’s leaders credit Gu Yuanqing with restoring access to a complete Dao and improving their cultivation prospects 494.
- Combat advantage: Once they stop holding back, Qian Yuan cultivators are generally stronger than peers of the same realm from other domains. Core Qian Yuan Sect cultivators practice the Cultivation World’s Great Dao and can often fight above their cultivation rank 688.
- Limits on the divine path: As the North Spring Realm’s influence grows, visiting divine-path cultivators find their connections to Rule Divine Artifacts weakened. Both cultivation and the power of their arts suffer 1121.
Newly formed lands
- Resources: The realm’s expansion creates heavenly materials and earthly treasures, which Great Qian organizes expeditions to collect 512.
- Exploration: An army aboard the captured Sea Shaking Boat travels to the new lands under True Master Xuanqing, whose Qi Observation Art assists the search for treasures 495.
- Long-term growth: Gu Yuanqing expects Qian Yuan’s increased world origin to generate additional treasures over time, making the realm attractive to outsiders 493.
Government and Access Control
- Imperial authority: Great Qian controls the realm’s inter-world access. Li Chengyi places the Teleportation Array under government supervision and assigns Minister Void to oversee it 494.
- Token ownership: The five Qian Yuan Tokens used for the array’s activation are held by Gu Yuanqing, Li Chengyi, Li Shi’an, Ji Dai, and Li Haotian 493.
- Practical sovereignty: Although Realm Tokens normally signify authority, Gu Yuanqing’s presence makes Great Qian’s position secure regardless of who holds an individual token 474.
- Controlled openness: Foreign visitors and faction representatives are tolerated if they obey Great Qian’s rules. Gu Yuanqing also ignores Heavenly Human split souls entering the realm when they cause no harm 523.
- Selective intervention: Gu Yuanqing leaves ordinary political challenges to Li Chengyi, initially reserving his intervention for matters involving Heavenly Humans 493.
- Heavenly Human admission: When the Sanyang Sect requests access to study the developing boundary domain, Gu Yuanqing demands one earth-tier divine soul great medicine per Heavenly Human for each year of residence 528.
Teleportation Array
Operation
- Activation: All five Qian Yuan Tokens must acknowledge owners before the array can open 474.
- Network: The array reveals a star chart of 108 Exquisite Worlds. Qian Yuan belongs to the outer Lower Seventy-Two Realms; the Upper Thirty-Six lie nearer the central Primordial God Realm 493.
- Mutual permission: Both realms must consent to a connection, with each side’s Realm Token controlling access 493.
- Travel requirements: Greater distances require more spirit stones and higher cultivation 493.
| Destination | Minimum stated activation cost |
|---|---|
| Either of the two nearest worlds | Ten high-grade spirit stones 493 |
| Primordial God Realm | At least three hundred high-grade spirit stones 493 |
Trade policy
- Merchant houses supply cultivation goods Qian Yuan lacks and gain access to a newly emerging market 499.
- Great Qian claims forty percent of merchant profits, prompting disputes over taxation and the valuation of foreign goods 509.
- The court rejects a proposed connection to the Dan Yun Realm, preferring not to deepen ties with the powerful Upper Thirty-Six Realms before it can manage the consequences 509.
Foreign Relations
- Purple You Realm / Purple Extreme Pavilion — Establishes the first documented inter-realm connection after the array opens. Reciprocal visits turn initial contact into formal relations 493 494.
- Heavenly Treasure Merchant Guild — Supplies goods, refining materials, and commercial channels. Its representatives investigate Qian Yuan’s unexpected strength and seek contact with Gu Yuanqing 509 510 552.
- Illusionary Spirit Sect — Gu Yuanqing’s guest-elder position provides ties to influential cultivators. Yi Yunbo and Qiu Ziqing offer assistance to future Great Qian visitors at the Boundless River 530.
- Sanyang Sect — Seeks access to Qian Yuan’s newly formed boundary domain, but faces Gu Yuanqing’s restrictive admission price 528.
- Crimson Cloud Bai Family — Investigates Qian Yuan indirectly through the Purple You Realm because of existing hostility 494.
- Primordial Divine Sect — Repeatedly threatens Gu Yuanqing and Qian Yuan. Its prolonged seclusion weakens its prestige and encourages other factions to align with Qian Yuan 577 794 895.
Qian Yuan Divine Halls
The divine halls form a voluntary network that exchanges sincere worship and service for cultivation opportunities 714.
- Merit rewards: Points can purchase cultivation on North Spring Mountain, techniques, treasures, medicines, and Gu Yuanqing’s personal guidance 714.
- Public service: Participating cultivators provide charity, assist the poor, establish Dao schools, teach practical cultivation, and identify promising talent 714.
- Early participants: The first hall appears in the Phantom Spirit World, followed by the Myriad Treasures Realm and Purple You Realm 714.
- Expansion: Within ten years, halls operate in seventy-six Exquisite Realm Domains 716.
- Administration: Li Chengyi establishes rules for hall management, visiting cultivators, Dao outreach, and merit exchanges 716.
- Noncoercion: Reluctant domains are not forced to participate, and Gu Yuanqing explicitly rejects adopting the flawed Incense God path 714.
