Background / History
First Life and the Possession Scheme
Known as the Star Abyss Great Emperor, Li Junhua once dominated an era and suppressed the Great Ascension Dao Domain. By the time Su Linxian discovers him, he has lived for 76,000 years—beyond the stated 60,000-year lifespan of a Great Emperor—and is dying in a hidden palace inside the First Forbidden Zone. He has spent thirty thousand years searching for a Longevity Elixir 11 18.
Diya was originally his sword. He placed it in the Divine Tomb behind layers of restrictions, intending it to guide a suitable wielder into the forbidden zone. His plan was to possess that person and obtain another life. When Su Linxian arrives, Li candidly admits the scheme but abandons it because Su belongs to an Emperor Clan and is already too powerful for him to overcome 11.
Submission to Su Linxian
Su Linxian offers a Longevity Elixir in exchange for submission. Li initially refuses, declaring that he would rather die than become another person’s servant. Su attacks to punish his possession scheme, and Li’s depleted vitality leaves him unable to withstand the confrontation 11.
Given a final opportunity, Li surrenders and opens his soul to the Soul Master Mark, becoming bound to Su Linxian. He receives the Nine Profound Blood Ginseng, estimates that restoring his body will take about a century, and is instructed to report to the Su Family afterward 11.
Second-Life Tribulation
A century later, Li undergoes his second-life tribulation while Great Emperor Rift-Space and five Quasi-Emperors surround the forbidden zone. They intend to seize his rejuvenated body and refine its flesh and blood into Longevity Elixirs 17 18.
Repeated lightning strikes shatter his body and threaten his soul. Li invokes ultimate sublimation, burns his golden essence, and draws on the Nine Profound Blood Ginseng to endure the final strike. A Second-Life Lotus appears and opens to reveal him as a youthful man, but his cultivation has fallen to the Ascension Realm 18.
Su Linxian intervenes before Rift-Space can capture him, then orders Yu Yao to eliminate the attackers. Afterward, Su gives Li a Storage Ring filled with resources to rebuild his cultivation. The gift’s value exceeds ten times everything Li accumulated during his first life, sharply changing his view of servitude 18 19.
Reunion with Ming Suwen
Li recognizes Ming Qingshu’s great calamity divine body and learns that she is Ming Suwen’s great-granddaughter. Hearing that Suwen is about to marry into the You Family, he requests permission to travel to the Blazing Extreme Dao Domain and “steal the bride” 20 21.
Their reunion is painful. Suwen says she waited forty thousand years for him and now wishes to marry You Xuanhai, whom she believes avenged and cared for her family. Li accepts responsibility for having wronged her and prepares to leave rather than force her to return 22 23.
Su Linxian then uncovers the truth: the You Family slaughtered the Ming Family, posed as its avengers, and plans to kill Qingshu to preserve the deception. With Yu Yao’s assistance, Li interrupts the wedding and publicly exposes the massacre. When the You ancestors crush him beneath peak-Emperor pressure, Su Linxian steps in to protect him 23 24.
After the You Family’s destruction, Li promises to live his second life for both Su Linxian and Suwen. She accepts his obligation to make amends. The pair are given a quiet courtyard in the Su Family’s Emperor City 26.
Recovery and the Blood Cliff City Duel
Within twenty years, Li reaches the Jijie Realm. He reassures Suwen that his rapid progress rests on his renewed body, previous-life understanding, and access to Su Family resources. At the Ancient Emperor Festival, the clans’ extravagant prizes astonish him; Su Linxian’s warning that the End of Dharma Age will arrive in seven million years also alarms him 28.
Later, Su summons him to fight Yang Kong at Blood Cliff City. Although Li is only at the third level of Hunyuan, his retained imperial experience allows him to overpower Yang’s Slaughter Divine Law. At Su’s instruction, he holds back to make the defeat appear narrowly avoidable, then reveals the deception by shattering the arena with a single palm 35 36 37 38 39.
Li estimates that he will need roughly a thousand years to become a Great Emperor again. Su considers this too slow in light of the approaching Otherworld Passage and instructs him to request additional clan resources and accelerate his recovery 39.
Appearance
- Before rebirth: Skeletal frame, shriveled skin, long gray-white hair, and deeply sunken, clouded eyes. Dense deathly energy surrounds his body, and his voice is dry and hoarse 11.
- After rebirth: Handsome face resembling a man in his twenties, jade-like skin, flowing golden hair, and golden pupils. Faint golden patterns appear on his palms 18.
- At Blood Cliff City: Wears his golden hair tied behind his head; his expression is youthful and resolute, with his aura restrained 36.
- Wedding confrontation: Wears black robes. The entrance passage describes his loose hair as black, although surrounding descriptions identify it as golden 23 24.
Personality
Li’s first response to submission is proud resistance: he would rather relinquish his life than serve another. Faced with defeat and a genuine chance at survival, however, he chooses to live. His initial regret over becoming a slave gives way to enthusiastic gratitude when Su Linxian provides protection and resources far beyond his former means 11 19.
His attachment to Ming Suwen survives their long separation. He acknowledges the hurt caused by his absence and initially respects her decision to move on. Learning that her apparent benefactor murdered her family turns his grief into fury; even while the You ancestors break his bones, he remains defiant 23 24.
In his second life, he retains his former confidence but becomes more composed. Against Yang Kong, he is calm and faintly amused, though the revelation that his opponent possesses an order divine law prompts him to take the assignment seriously 28 36 37.
