Position in the Heavens

  • Above ordinary Dao Domain powers: Emperor Clans possess foundations beyond the reach of inhabitants of mid-tier domains such as Ziwei 2.
  • Above Ancient Saint Clans: Even the powerful You Family acknowledges that it cannot afford to offend an Emperor Clan member 21.
  • Not equal in strength: The Yun Family occupies the upper-middle tier, while the Su Family is described as one of the foremost clans 13 41.
  • Fierce competition: Su elders regard damaged relations with another Emperor Clan as a political risk, despite their own family’s superior strength 16.
  • Generally distant from lower-realm affairs: A Ziwei Emperor expresses disbelief at the Su Family’s arrival, saying Emperor Clans reside in the higher heavens and have long ceased involving themselves in worldly affairs 8.

Organization and Customs

Leadership and Bloodline Status

  • Divine Emperors: Su Qi presides over the Su Family; the Wang Family also has a Divine Emperor 28 41.
  • Clan leaders and elders: Shenyue Su manages Su Family affairs alongside a Grand Elder and other elders 10 12.
  • Divine Sons: A Divine Emperor’s son holds exceptionally elevated status. Miao Yin Yun warns that even Emperor Clan members should not offend such a figure 14.
  • Deference to Su Linxian: The Su clan leader and assembled elders bow to him, while Yuan Feng carries out his orders against enemy Emperors and orthodoxies 9 14.
  • Branches and direct lines: Yun Qian asks which Su Family branch Linxian belongs to; Miao Yin Yun and Ji Wuye are identified with their families’ direct lineages 14 22 28.

Marriage, Obligation, and Reputation

The Su and Yun families establish a marriage agreement after the Su Family’s third elder gives a Saint Origin Pill to save Yun Ya’s life. Three centuries later, Miao Yin Yun seeks to dissolve her engagement to Shangyu Su through a previously agreed challenge 14.

Su Linxian rejects treating the matter as a simple duel or repayment. He frames it as an affront to the Su Family’s reputation, cripples Miao Yin Yun, and demands Shenkong Ye’s sacred-body essence as compensation. The engagement is ultimately dissolved, and Shangyu receives the compensation Storage Ring 15 16.

  • Marriage grants affiliation: Shenkong Ye later claims the right to represent the Yun Family at the Ancient Emperor Festival because he has joined as a son-in-law and will marry Miao Yin Yun 29.
  • Family standing outweighs outsiders: Yun Ya and Yun Qi agree to sacrifice Shenkong Ye’s physique rather than prolong their confrontation with Su Linxian 15.

Military Strength and Resources

Emperor-Level Forces

The Su Family provides the clearest demonstration of an Emperor Clan’s military foundation.

  • Numerous high-level cultivators: The system describes Emperors under Su Qi as “numerous as clouds” and Quasi-Emperors as “plentiful as rain” 2.
  • Black Armor War Guards: The force arriving in Ziwei includes 108 guards wearing heavy black armor and demon masks, each carrying a standard-issue Emperor Weapon 8.
  • Battlefield containment: Their coordinated blades and Dao-law chains prevent three fleeing Emperors from escaping 9.
  • Shadow Guard: Yuan Feng serves within this organization; Li Junhua and Ming Suwen later become members 10 28.
  • Guardians for prodigies: Emperor Clan youths gathered around the Primordial Imperial Court inheritance each have guardians protecting them 28.

Wealth and Cultivation Support

  • Su Family imperial city: A vast city floats among the stars, containing thousands of palaces and separate ancestral grounds 12.
  • Primordial Chaos Divine Tree: The Su Family owns one of only three recorded primordial trees. A single tree can sustain spiritual-qi circulation throughout an entire great world 12.
  • Emperor-realm transport beasts: The Su Family travels in a primordial-divine-gold chariot drawn by Emperor-realm divine beasts and escorted by war guards 28.
  • Rare compensation treasures: Yun Ya offers an Emperor Weapon, three million-year-old Saint Medicines, three Emperor Essence Pills, and an Emperor-grade cultivation technique during negotiations 15.
  • Abundant training resources: Li Junhua attributes his rapid second-life cultivation partly to Su Family support, remarking that resources are never in short supply after joining the clan 28.

Limits of Clan Power

  • Lineage does not guarantee victory: Shenkong Ye defeats the Yun prodigy Yun Qi with one palm and later defeats Wang Ling at the festival 28 29.
  • Inheritance can reject clan candidates: None of the Emperor Clan members seeking the Primordial Imperial Court inheritance receives its recognition; Shenkong Ye obtains it instead 28.
  • Peak-Emperor threats remain serious: Shenkong Ye’s combination of a peak-Emperor puppet, lesser Emperor puppets, burning life essence, and the Imperial Court alarms the assembled clans 30.
  • Long-term decline threatens even them: The predicted End of Dharma Age, seven million years away, is expected to endanger the Emperor Clans as well 28.

History and Major Involvement

Recovery of the Su Family Divine Son

The system reveals that Su Linxian is Su Qi’s lost son. Su Qi later explains that he sealed his child in primordial divine source to protect him from a family enemy, but the source was lost in the void 2 12.

After ten thousand years without a bloodline detection, the Su Family’s Grand Void Mirror finds the Divine Son’s signal. Shenyue Su dispatches the Shadow Guard to retrieve him 5.

Yuan Feng and the clan’s forces reach the ruined Tianxuan Orthodoxy during Linxian’s confrontation with four Emperors. Acting on his orders, Yuan Feng executes the enemies and destroys their four orthodoxies. Linxian then places Tianxuan under Su Family protection 8 9.

A Generation Overshadowed

Linxian’s peak-Emperor cultivation astonishes his own clan. Shenyue Su orders his achievement proclaimed throughout the heavens 10.

At the Ancient Emperor Festival, Ji Wuye and Wang Ling conclude that competing with him for the era’s Divine Emperor destiny is hopeless. They plan to seal themselves in Primordial Divine Source after the festival 28.

Otherworld Preparations

Su Qi reveals that a million-year plan has begun and offers assembled powers a Divine Emperor’s seat in exchange for assistance. He subsequently explains his intention to invade the Otherworld rather than merely defend against its expected attack in three thousand years 30 31.

His goal for Su Linxian is dual Divine Emperor status: attaining the Dao first under the heavens’ laws and then under the Otherworld’s laws. He gives his son his lifetime of cultivation insights to support that preparation 31.
