Power Progression
| Stage / Realm / Level | Chapter | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Second-level faction | 119 | Qin Shujian’s status panel identifies the newly founded Origin Sect as a second-level faction. Its establishment also unlocks Sect Mode for players. |
| Third-level faction | 121 122 | Reached after Qin invests six fortune points in Thousand Mountain Blood, turning it into a low-grade spirit weapon. The advancement strengthens members and grants Qin 5,000 Life Source. |
| Fourth-level faction | 166 | Further investment in Thousand Mountain Blood raises it to a half-step Dao artifact. Native members gain five cultivation levels, capped at True Martial tenth level; Otherworlders are excluded. The sect reaches 1,573 Inner Astral and ten Outer Astral experts. |
| Fifth-level faction | 237 241 244 | Explicitly confirmed by Qin’s discussion of faction advancement. By this period, Liangshan has become a Spirit Domain, and the sect possesses more than a thousand Spirit God cultivators. |
| Sixth-level faction | 434 487 625 | Qin initially delays advancement because he anticipates Imperial Court retaliation. His Heavenly Being breakthrough alone cannot secure the rank without treasures to anchor the increased fortune. Sixth level is subsequently confirmed as the rank preceding the Heavenly Rankings’ completion. |
| Eighth-level faction, passing directly through seventh level | 625 | Successfully forging the Heavenly Rankings causes a direct leap from sixth to eighth level. Seventh-level benefits could raise 50,000 cultivators by seven levels, capped at Divine Martial fifth level; eighth-level benefits could raise 100,000 by eight levels, capped at Divine Martial peak. Qin declines to apply the cultivation boosts because he believes they would damage members’ future advancement prospects. |
Background / History
From stronghold to sect
The Origin Sect grows out of Liangshan Stronghold after Qin Shujian breaks the Mortal Domain’s shackles and establishes the Liangshan True Domain. He chooses Liangshan as the sect’s foundation rather than retaining the stronghold’s outlaw identity. The founding announcement opens Sect Mode, allowing players to seek sect membership and advanced cultivation methods 118 119.
Its former stronghold layout is rebuilt into a formal sect complex. Gu Feng and the Chengyun Trading Company assist with construction, including a training ground, mountain approach, and the Martial Inheritance Hall. Qin’s inscription on the hall contains his blade intent 122 127.
The founding banquet attracts representatives from all nine sects across four neighboring True Domains. Guihai Chuan’s recognition of Qin as “Sect Master Qin,” following their exchange of blade intent, helps establish the new sect’s standing among older powers 130 132.
Player recruitment
Early encounters with prospective player disciples are hostile: Liu Er kills Song Qing before he can explain his intention to join. Qin later reconsiders players as a source of manpower and Life Source rather than treating them solely as enemies 122 126.
The first recruitment admits approximately one hundred paying players. Their membership unlocks Identity Tokens, contribution points, and sect quests for Qin. The recruits are immediately tasked with building a village within two li of Liangshan 134.
Player membership reaches approximately three thousand, although the sect’s remote location and thirty-tael fee restrict further growth. Their resource gathering supports the treasury, while their expanding expeditions also provoke conflicts with players from other regions 150.
Conquest and regional supremacy
Following its fourth-level advancement, the sect attacks the Cloudmist and Rock Sects, then continues into the Abundant Sea True Domain. The campaign eventually destroys seven sects and returns resources worth approximately thirty million taels, along with thousands of surrendered disciples 175 177 179 182 184.
The victories make the Origin Sect a major True Domain power and encourage players in weaker sects to defect. Qin nevertheless rejects relocating to a Spirit Domain before the sect has secured its foundation, while Zheng Fang and Xu Yuanming discourage further indiscriminate conquest 184 185 186.
After Liangshan becomes a Spirit Domain, the sect protects native factions from outside cultivators. Its Dao artifacts kill three Sky-Soaring experts, and its large Spirit God population deters the Heavenly Martial Sect from attempting an immediate attack 237 241.
Expansion beyond Liangshan
Eight major sects from four Spirit Domains target the Origin Sect and its protective Dao artifact. Qin prepares through artifact upgrades, demonic-beast hunts, and formation study, then destroys the coalition’s strongest experts on the Undying Plains. The Origin Sect subsequently demands resources from factions that seized the defeated sects’ holdings 252 254 267.
Qin’s reputation as an Array Dao Grandmaster turns recruitment into an event of national interest. By this stage, joining the Origin Sect is compared to joining a top-tier force protected by a Heavenly Being 269.
The later destruction of the Heavenly Corpse Sect supplies the Origin Sect with a genuine Heavenly Human inheritance, extensive equipment, and materials for strengthening its cultivation infrastructure. Qin uses the victory to pressure the remaining hostile sects for compensation 451 455.
Long-term development
The Demon Race’s offensive inflicts substantial losses and badly injures Zheng Fang. After Qin returns, recruitment shifts toward talented candidates aged sixteen or younger rather than simply increasing membership 502.
Subsequent reforms turn the Main Sect into a selective cultivation center supported by regional branches. Qin distributes 210,000 recruits among the branches and connects them to the Main Sect through Teleportation Gates 539 546.
By the Celestial Court recruitment period, Xu Yuanming has become Sect Master. The Origin Sect remains the strongest sect within the Qianyuan Sacred Ground despite Qin Yuanbai of the Nine Palaces Sect holding the Sacred Lord position 783.

| Demon Branch | Niu Dali | Has no formal disciples when the three-year assessment system is discussed 310. |
- Main Sect selection: Ordinary disciples are reassigned to branches, while the Main Sect becomes a destination for their most talented members. Elders’ personally selected disciples may remain there 539.
- Branch resources: Branches receive manuals and support from the Main Sect. Their later collections approach the Main Sect’s breadth, with divine-comprehension cultivation manuals remaining a major distinction 539 632.
- Former enemies: The sect initially employs 4,213 captured disciples as servants or menial disciples. Some later earn outer-disciple status through contribution points 185 234.

Membership and Sect Rules
Admission and promotion
- Initial admission: Applicants of upright character can join by paying thirty taels of silver 134.
- Identity Tokens: Record membership and support promotion. Qin and senior leaders retain authority to promote members directly 134.
- Promotion thresholds: Qin initially sets a 200-point threshold when the system unlocks; a later player discussion states that outer-to-inner promotion requires 500 points 134 138.
- Early outer-disciple restriction: Outer disciples cannot live inside the sect and instead use the settlement beneath Liangshan 134.
- Resolve testing: A later recruitment subjects all candidates, including prospective guest elders, to Thousand Mountain Blood’s slaughterous intent 188.
- Guest elders: Accepted candidates at True Martial Realm or above may serve as guest elders, with status equivalent to inner sect deacons 188.
- Loyalty screening: Qin uses Spirit Eye to inspect members’ loyalty and executes recruits with negative scores whom he judges to be infiltrators or enemies 134 188.
- Competitive advancement: Assessments are scheduled every three years. Disciples compete in cultivation-based groups, and successful challengers can take an opponent’s rank 310.
Performance requirements
Qin’s reforms tie rank and benefits to regular work rather than loyalty alone 353.
| Disciple Rank | Monthly demonic-beast requirement |
|---|---|
| Outer Sect Disciple | Exempt from the monthly hunting assessment 353. |
| Inner Sect Disciple | Kill one beast of the same cultivation realm 353. |
| Elite Disciple | Kill one beast a minor realm above their own 353. |
| Personal Disciple | Kill one beast two minor realms above their own 353. |
| True Disciple | Kill one beast three minor realms above their own 353. |
- Tournament qualification: Participants must first kill a beast of the same realm, using Recording Jade Pendants as evidence 353.
- Penalties: Failed obligations incur contribution-point deductions and can eventually result in demotion 353.
- Specialist alternatives: Alchemists and forgemasters receive production targets and may collect both professional and disciple allowances 353.
- Loss of faction-derived strength: Expelled members lose cultivation gains obtained through the sect’s advancements, exposing those who neglected their own cultivation 354.
Cultivation and Collective Strength
Origin Canon and inherited techniques
- Foundational inheritance: Qin identifies the Origin Canon as the sect’s foundation and initially restricts its transmission to trusted former stronghold members 126 127.
- Hidden reserve: Approximately fifty survivors of the former Intelligence Hall and Hall of Loyalty and Righteousness are selected to become a concealed backbone of the sect 127.
- Player access: Inner disciples gain access to the complete Martial Entry section of the Origin Canon 138.
- Library expansion: Qin places the completed True Martial chapter and ten high-grade True-rank techniques on the third floor, with the Great Dream Spirit-Binding Art and Great Wilderness Demon-Suppressing Seal on the fourth 167.
- Heavenly Human inheritance: Spoils from the Heavenly Corpse Sect add a divine-comprehension cultivation manual and martial arts capable of supporting a top-tier sect’s legacy 451.
- Restricted anti-player technique: Qin teaches the Truth-Severing Red Lotus, which can permanently kill players, to seventeen original Liangshan followers under strict secrecy orders 546.
Spiritual energy and cultivation infrastructure
- Domain Lord benefits: Visitors attribute the sect’s unusually abundant spiritual energy to having a Domain Lord at its head 131.
- Recurring energy tides: During Qin’s three-month seclusion, repeated surges help disciples break through and attract branch members to the crowded Main Sect 361.
- Spirit-stone foundation: Qin buries twenty-five additional spirit stones beneath Liangshan Summit, bringing the main foundation to twenty-seven stones at that point 451.
- Secret realm: More than five hundred True Martial disciples enter a realm with dense, mistlike spiritual energy. Muyang, a Heavenly Being of the Spirit Race, guards it and perceives activity throughout the Main Sect through his roots 601.
- Advancement policy: After reaching eighth-level faction status, Qin favors cultivators’ long-term potential over immediate, faction-granted realm increases 625.
Treasures and Defenses
- Thousand Mountain Blood — The sect’s guardian saber and a principal source of faction growth. It progresses from spirit weapon to half-step Dao artifact and later Three-Mark Dao Artifact; Qin lends it to elders for dangerous assignments 122 166 252 268 434.
- Heaven and Earth Bow and Cloud-Piercing Arrow — Acquired from the Rock Sect and used in military operations and regional defense. Qin upgrades both to Three-Mark Dao Artifacts 177 219 241 434.
- Formation treasures — Ten spirit-stone treasures capable of brief Heavenly Being-level attacks, plus one hundred jade talismans containing grandmaster-level formations 361.
- Heavenly Rankings — A fortune-linked ranking treasure whose successful forging elevates the faction to eighth level. Its destruction would damage the sect’s fortune 601 625.
- Jiang Feng — A Heavenly Corpse brought back after the Heavenly Corpse Sect’s destruction. He guards the entrance silently and provides an additional Heavenly Being-level combatant 451 533.
- Liangshan City — A trade and residential center forged as a spirit weapon. Qin later proposes upgrading it into a Dao artifact that can expand or shrink, requiring at least three Xiantian Spirit Objects 241 529.
- Evil Fiend Pendants — Five thousand commissioned pendants filled with essence-eroding bone powder, offered for 1,000 contribution points each 213.
Economy and Territory
Contribution-point economy
- Resource exchange: Members trade treasures and ores for contribution points; the sect sells the goods through the Chengyun Trading Company 150.
- Treasury growth: Within approximately a month of Qin’s absence, reserves rise from just over 20,000 taels to 270,000 taels, largely through player-supplied resources 151.
- Purchasing priorities: Funds support cultivation manuals, martial arts, standardized uniforms, and investigation of medicinal pills 151.
- Rewards and services: Contribution points purchase manuals, equipment, pills, and instruction. Qin also rewards combat participation, including 50,000 points per participant after the Heavenly Corpse Sect campaign 134 185 206 353 451.
- Internal consistency: Qin deposits his own gathered treasures through the contribution system instead of exempting himself from its rules 513.
Trade and regional income
- Liangshan settlement: The original player-built village becomes a hub for bartering, quests, and resource sharing 134 150.
- Liangshan City: Established to serve visitors, disciple trade, and long-term revenue. Unauthorized fighting is prohibited 190 241.
- Commercial growth: Before the eight-sect confrontation, approximately 70–80% of the city’s premises are occupied 257.
- Tribute: Other sects in the Liangshan Spirit Domain submit a share of their profits under Origin Sect dominance 304.
- Regional access sales: The sect sells ten entry slots to a Newly Emerged Region for five million taels. One expedition yields three Xiantian Spirit Objects and 435 million taels in entry revenue 406 409.
- Entry restrictions: Zheng Fang limits entrants to Spirit God Realm or below to avoid damaging the region’s unstable laws, while two to three thousand Origin Sect disciples enter first 408.
- Protection contracts: Origin Pavilion services include twenty-year protection arrangements. Zheng Fang refuses to raise previously agreed prices because doing so would undermine the sect’s credibility 502.
Relationships
- Chengyun Trading Company — Construction, trade, information, and material-supply partner. Gu Feng cultivates the initial connection; Lin Wanyou provides intelligence and the formation crystal that assists Qin’s array development 127 150 185 254.
- Marquis of Northcloud — Supplies valuable cultivation and martial manuals and later offers support, although the Imperial Court cannot openly intervene in cultivation-world disputes 166 244.
- Azure Cloud Sect — Neighboring faction that recognizes Qin’s Domain Lord authority, relies on Origin Sect protection, and purchases access to valuable regions. Its spy Guo Quan is exposed during recruitment 130 188 237 406.
- Heavenly Blade Sect — Guihai Chuan recognizes Qin as a fellow sect master and invites him to visit after the founding banquet 132.
- Golden Sun Sect — Attends the founding banquet; elder Yang Zhongning later explores Liangshan City and considers establishing a presence there 131 241.
- Heavenly Array Sect — Formal ally after Fang Xinglan reaches Heavenly Being. The alliance preserves separate administration while providing conditional mutual defense and contribution-based resource sharing 513 546.
- Traceless Sect — Receives paid assistance during Yin Bancheng’s breakthrough and later joins the three-sect alliance. Qin also intervenes to restrain its feud with the Giant Spirit Sect 529 531 535 546.
- Players / Otherworlders — Major source of resources, combat labor, and Life Source, but a persistent security concern. Qin avoids actions that could unite the player population against the sect 150 405 546.
- Qianyuan Sacred Ground — Later overarching authority for cultivation sects. The Origin Sect retains its strongest foundations because of Qin’s legacy 783.
Major Conflicts
| Conflict | Outcome |
|---|---|
| Seven-sect campaign | Cloudmist, Rock, Listening Sea, Azure City, Wind and Thunder, Flamefire, and Mountain-Shifting are destroyed. Their resources are seized, and willing lower-realm survivors are brought back as laborers 175 177 179 182 184. |
| Ten Directions Sect retaliation | A player feud escalates into native-cultivator deaths. Zheng Fang destroys the sect, captures its guardian spirit saber, and reports four Inner Astral losses: one deacon and three inner disciples 219 220. |
| Eight Great Sects coalition | Qin’s formation destroys the coalition’s strongest experts on the Undying Plains. The Origin Sect then demands compensation from factions that appropriated the defeated sects’ resources 267. |
| Origin Pavilion war | Bounties target fifty-three hostile sects. Shi Jianfeng destroys the Astral Image Sect, while the Heavenly Corpse Sect’s defeat yields immense resources and inheritance manuals 428 434 451. |
| Postwar compensation dispute | Fifty-one surviving hostile sects receive demands for apology and payment; thirty-three are blacklisted after failing to comply adequately within one month 451 455. |
| Demon Race offensive | The sect survives but loses many disciples and several powerful retainers; Zheng Fang is badly injured. Recruitment and rebuilding follow 495 502. |
Celestial Court Prospects
- Heavenly General candidates: Shi Jianfeng, Ning Xuan, and Zhang Ergou appear on the Battle General List. The leadership seeks positions for all three, although Zhang Ergou is absent and unreachable during its discussion 783.
- Ning Xuan: Qin’s disciple is regarded by Xu Yuanming as the sect’s greatest long-term asset because of his Heaven-Evolving Path and potential future Immortality 783.
- Specialist divine positions: Shen Yuhua is the sect’s strongest contender in Alchemy. Shen Yuqing and Xiang Haoqian acknowledge that they trail competing Forging and Array specialists 783.
- Limits of its foundations: Despite unmatched overall strength, the sect’s short history still leaves it behind older competitors in some specialized disciplines 783.
