Bu Er's chest ached from Yang Qing's shoves, but he still stepped forward again and again, trying to stop him, though his strength was beginning to fail him.

Just as Yang Qing was one step away from reaching the man seated in contemplation, he suddenly stopped.
For he had finally remembered who the man before him was.
This man was none other than the one depicted in those portraits he had seen before!
The reason Yang Qing had merely found him familiar without connecting him to the portraits was that the man in those paintings had sharper features than the one before him.
The man in the portraits had a more powerful presence and a colder, sterner face.
The man before him, by comparison, seemed gentle.
Though their bearing differed, their faces were exactly alike.
Once Yang Qing realized this, he managed to stop just in time.
One more step, and he would have walked straight into the man.
Had that truly happened, no one knew what the consequences might have been.
Fortunately, Yang Qing had stopped.
