Ouyang Lin soon returned, set a large bag of food in front of Yang Qing, and barely had time to toss out, "Start eating without me," before he dashed off again as though flying.
When Ouyang Lin returned an hour later, Yang Qing and the others saw that he was carrying two enormous bundles on his back.
Ouyang Lin strode into the courtyard and set the two bundles down before them. "The baked flatbreads here in Xiangyang City taste pretty good. They keep you full and are easy to carry, so I bought plenty."
These baked flatbreads were made from dough and could be eaten plain, or, when circumstances allowed, stuffed with meat, vegetables, and the like. One particularly famous variety in Xiangyang City, for instance, was called "donkey-meat flatbread."
"The fillings aren't easy to carry, and I was worried they'd spoil, so I only bought the flatbreads. I didn't get anything else."
Seeing Yang Qing and the others staring endlessly at the two bundles of flatbreads, Ouyang Lin explained with some embarrassment.
"The flatbreads are enough. Everyone, finish your food. We're leaving."
Yang Qing had Bu Er divide the flatbreads Ouyang Lin had bought into allotted portions and distribute them among the others. Naturally, Yang Qing received a share too, but he had no need to worry about carrying it. Bu Er and Jiang Zhizhou had already scrambled to tuck his portion into their robes.
Leaving this place sounded like the easiest thing in the world, but they could not decide where to go next.
Although Ji Shan had not finished what he was saying before he left, the meaning both in and between his words had been perfectly clear.
The matter of the token seemingly had nothing more to do with them. But Yang Qing and the others,
