He looked up and scanned his surroundings.
There was more than one strand in the black miasma.
There were countless strands.
They crisscrossed densely, weaving a web with no end in sight.
The web enclosed the entire outer perimeter of the Solar System.
A chill rose in Chen Hao's heart.
What on earth was this thing?
Chen Hao did not linger. He continued deeper.
The strands grew increasingly dense.
At first, he could still see the Black Miasma itself. Eventually, the strands obscured even that.
His vision filled with black threads so fine they were almost invisible, stretched every which way through the void like spiderwebs.
Some strands were motionless.
Some writhed slowly.
Others actively reached toward him.
Chen Hao had already replaced the barrier of laws around his body three times.
The strands had bored through the first layer, a spatial barrier.
They had entangled the second layer, a flame field, and could not be burned away completely.
The third layer, a counteracting absorption through devouring, had also failed. These strands had no fear of devouring. Instead, they could devour the power of his laws.
He was now holding out with his fourth layer, the Way of Bloodlust.
Crimson power of laws formed a layer of blood mist around his body. The mist held an intensely aggressive power, corroding any strands that approached.
But even this was only temporary.
Chen Hao could feel that the Way of Bloodlust was draining his power faster than the previous three layers combined.
At this rate, he could hold out for twenty more minutes at most.
He quickened his pace.
After another five minutes deeper in, the strands around him suddenly grew sparse.
Their numbers had not actually decreased. Their arrangement had changed.
Their chaotic tangle had become a pattern of some kind.
