Night fell, and the campfire burned. Its fiery glow shone especially brightly in the silent Purple Demon Mountains, illuminating their shadowed faces with unusual clarity. The Dark Elves, led by Mo Han, gathered closer to the great tree, keeping their distance from the fire.
Little Lecher listened to the old trees grumble incessantly about their dislike of the Dark Elves, then simply shut out the surrounding consciousnesses.
"Little Ninth, Little Ninth, roast meat!" Ding Ding reacted quickly. The sight of fire immediately brought meat to mind. Having gone the whole journey without a decent meal, Ding Ding was positively ravenous.
"Sure. Ding Ding, go catch a magic beast."
"Oh!"
"Ding Ding, don't cause trouble," Qian Wanyu warned. "Go and come straight back."
The three sat in a circle. Little Lecher stayed far away from the campfire and asked in confusion, "Now that you've lit this fire, hordes of magic beasts will come running soon. What exactly are you trying to do?"
Jian Tongyao gave Seventh Sister a lingering look. Lighting the fire had been Seventh Sister's suggestion.
Qian Wanyu tossed in a branch. The flames surged higher with a crackle. She stared into the fire for a while before saying, "Ninth Sister, let's look around somewhere else."
"What!"
"Little Lecher, stay here."
Before either of them could react, Seventh Sister had already pulled Jian Tongyao away, and they were racing through the woods. The trees on either side seemed to move, shifting rapidly past them. In no time, her vision blurred and she lost all sense of direction. Before, she had at least been able to rely on the little trees and grasses to show her a way out. Now, if she really lost Seventh Sister here, she could cry to heaven and earth alike without receiving an answer.
