"Ch-Christa, are you asleep?"
Randall struggled to sit up and took Christa's hand.
It was cool, and growing colder.
Randall's cheeks puffed out, his nostrils quivering.
The Imu Tree wore a peculiar expression.
What was going on? Was this man an Ability User too?
But it didn't matter.
Yet a second later, his expression changed.
"Damn you, mortal!"
His body suddenly twitched, and then, with awkward movements, he hurled the black spear toward the distant sea.
The next instant, there was no explosion. The seawater that touched the black spear vanished into thin air.

Another black spear appeared.
Randall's face darkened.
Christa alone really wasn't enough.
"Alan, I love you."
At those words, Randall's heart suddenly skipped a beat.
He turned and saw Caris's beautiful, smiling face.
He had seen that smile countless times, yet could never get enough of it.
"Don't!"
The next instant, a light drifted out of Caris's body.
Randall staggered forward and caught her falling body.
"Sir, you can do it!"
Aequus spoke right after her.
A black light floated out, and he collapsed as well.
Randall looked blankly at Caris, then at Aequus and Christa.
"Ah! Damn it!"
The Imu Tree now moved like a puppet on strings.
After Christa and the other two entered him, the Ability Users already inside seemed to wake up too.
For a moment, the Imu Tree
