|---|---|---|
| Chakra refinement and Shadow Clone mastery | 14 | Learns both from Shinichi. Initially hindered by his young age and unsettled chakra reserves, he masters clones within a few days, including efficient chakra allocation. |
| Five chakra natures identified | 15 | A chakra-paper test reveals all five basic natures. This establishes his potential rather than mastery of every transformation. |
| Tree climbing and water walking mastered | 16 | Completes Shinichi’s chakra-control exercises in little more than ten minutes. |
| Rasengan mastered; Six Styles training begins | 19 | Produces a smaller but exceptionally precise Rasengan. Shinichi then introduces the Six Styles and begins teaching Shave. |
| Genin | 27 | Graduates from the Academy in Konoha Year 16 alongside Tsunade and Jiraiya, entering Hiruzen Sarutobi’s team. |
| Chunin | 39 | Confirmed to have advanced after accumulating battlefield mission experience; works toward jonin rank. |

| Lightning Release Chakra Mode instruction | 54 | Shinichi teaches Orochimaru and Tsunade how to use the technique. Orochimaru’s individual level of mastery is not specified. |
| Ryūchi Cave training; independent senjutsu path | 55 57 | Receives Shinichi’s Sage Body blood as a potential adaptation aid and gains experience at Ryūchi Cave, but chooses not to fully pursue its Senjutsu. Completed Sage Mode is not established. |
| Eight-Headed Serpent form demonstrated | 123 | Uses the form and prepared traps against Ōnoki. Both combatants are injured, but Orochimaru retains the battlefield after Iwagakure withdraws. |
| Divine Art research breakthrough | 182 183 | Extracts a rudimentary fragment of “law code” concerning existence and nonexistence from Shibai Ōtsutsuki’s corpse. Shinichi cautions that extraction does not establish mastery of law rewriting or the ability to safely create new Divine Arts. |
| Bloodline Enhancement Serum version 1.0 developed | 184 185 186 | Produces a serum using Shibai’s gene fragments after more than ten thousand simulations and formulation trials. Tests awaken Nawaki’s Wood Release and induce conceptual changes in Minato. These are research achievements, not confirmed enhancements to Orochimaru himself. |
| Psychological adaptation program developed | 187 188 | Identifies the genetic instinct behind recipients’ Ōtsutsuki arrogance and develops a “mental patch” through ordinary emotional and social experiences. Initial progress is reported at five percent. |
| Long-term optimization of Konoha ninja | 198 | Continues recording combat data and refining bodily enhancements across twenty years of peace. The resulting generation has greatly improved chakra capacity, recovery, and overall capabilities. |
| Perception of “essence” granted | 203 | Shinichi enables him to perceive chakra composition, soul structure, matter-energy conversion formulas, and the deeper Ōtsutsuki “code of life” within Kaguya. The influx of information initially causes collapse, convulsions, and foaming at the mouth. |
Background / History
Finding a Family
Orochimaru first appears as a hungry, isolated child outside Yakiniku Q. Wearing worn-out clothes, he peers into the restaurant but initially refuses Shinichi’s invitation to eat. His growling stomach undermines the refusal, and he cautiously accepts the meal 12.
After Orochimaru says that he has no family, Shinichi offers him a home and protection. Raishin and Xueli welcome him as family, prompting him to silently promise that he will never disappoint them. He moves into the room beside Shinichi’s and gradually becomes comfortable with companionship and household life 12 15.
Academy Years and Riverside Training
Shinichi teaches Orochimaru chakra refinement and shadow clones, allowing him to send a clone to the Academy while his original body trains and relaxes beside the Naka River. Together with Tsunade, they form the “Lazy Fish Squad”; Jiraiya later joins their expanded riverside group 14 24.
These lessons awaken Orochimaru’s interest in advanced ninjutsu. He discovers his five chakra natures, studies seal-free chakra manipulation, and learns the Rasengan before beginning the Six Styles 15 16 19.
Shinichi’s care is also a deliberate attempt to change Orochimaru’s future. Knowing that the original timeline led him toward immortality research and cruel experiments, Shinichi hopes a supportive upbringing will offer him another path 20.
First Shinobi World War
Following graduation, Orochimaru serves under Hiruzen alongside Tsunade and Jiraiya. His composure and precise tactical planning repeatedly distinguish him on the battlefield. Senior village leaders notice his ability, and rumors identify him as a possible future Hokage candidate 27 28.
On the western front, the team destroys an Iwagakure supply depot but is pursued and trapped by Kitsuchi’s forces. Exhausted and nearly out of chakra, they face a crushing earth attack until Shinichi arrives with Ryujin Jakka. Orochimaru survives the encounter and recognizes that combat has changed his older-brother figure 32 33.
Independent Research and Jonin Promotion
After Hiruzen becomes Third, Orochimaru increasingly immerses himself in forbidden-technique research and rarely returns home. A proposed scientific laboratory with Shinichi initially stalls at the planning stage. Shinichi nevertheless recognizes that Orochimaru has developed an independent will rather than becoming Danzō’s scientific pawn 38 39.
By Chapter 46, the secret laboratory beneath the Uchiha clan head’s residence is identified as belonging to Orochimaru. His interests continue to expand into chakra-nature fusion and a theory of evolving the human body to its ultimate limits 46 49.
At eleven, he becomes one of Konoha’s youngest jonin. His Snake Shadow Six Styles and uncanny battlefield survival earn him the names “Undying Viper” and “Living Curse” 49.
Ryūchi Cave and the Expanding Laboratory
Shinichi teaches Orochimaru Lightning Release Chakra Mode before leaving with Tsunade to train at Shikkotsu Forest. Orochimaru independently plans to visit Ryūchi Cave and ask the White Snake Sage about Sage Mode. Concerned about its violent natural energy, venom, forced bodily transformation, and fatal consequences for failure, Shinichi gives him a test tube of Sage Body blood and directs him to research notes left by Tobirama and himself 54 55.
When Shinichi and Tsunade return after several months, Orochimaru reports that he has gained much at Ryūchi Cave but has chosen not to fully pursue its Senjutsu, preferring his own path. He also briefs them on growing Uchiha radical dissatisfaction, Danzō’s establishment of Root, and Shinichi’s rising Black Market bounty—100 million for his corpse and 200 million alive—with several S-rank rogue shinobi taking an interest 57.
Orochimaru and Tsunade subsequently witness Shinichi’s secret battle with Hiruzen. When Hiruzen knocks Shinichi down, Orochimaru persuades Tsunade to keep watching rather than intervene, correctly anticipating that Shinichi can continue 58.
As the laboratory grows, Orochimaru becomes its principal ongoing financial backer after Shinichi’s diverted Uchiha funds run out. His investments and Shinichi’s management expand it beyond Tobirama’s inherited facility into the foremost scientific laboratory in the shinobi world 59.
Human Enhancement and Shared Research
Orochimaru continues human-enhancement experiments under Shinichi’s guidance. Shinichi warns him to restrain his work and avoid causing trouble in Konoha; Orochimaru maintains that his interest lies in the mysteries of life 60.
In Konoha Year 24, he discusses Shinichi’s control of the orphanage and the effort to prevent Root from turning children into tools. He agrees that, if assigned missions in the Land of Water, he will try to bring back suitable children from persecuted kekkei genkai clans. Shinichi explicitly requires adoption rather than abduction, and Orochimaru says that he understands the boundary 60.
Over roughly seven months of training and discussion, Orochimaru, Tsunade, and Shinichi frequently return to the Naka River to exchange ideas on chakra, medical ninjutsu, biotechnology, and the principles behind techniques. Shinichi’s knowledge deepens Orochimaru’s respect for him as both his most important personal bond and a guide to unknown powers 94.
In Konoha Year 27, Orochimaru volunteers to assist Shinichi’s Hydrogen Release experiments. Fascinated by the unconventional chakra-fusion processes, he records each experimental detail and analyzes the causes of failures. His role is collaborative research support; the proposed kekkei tōta belongs to Shinichi, not Orochimaru 95.
Second Shinobi World War
At the outset of the war, Hiruzen assigns Orochimaru command of the Land of Earth front, supported by troops from the Ino-Shika-Cho clans and the Sarutobi Clan. He is initially directed to establish terrain-based defenses and halt the enemy’s eastward advance 122.
During a subsequent commanders’ meeting, Shinichi tasks him with destroying Iwagakure’s key facilities, intelligence network, and supply lines, preferably carrying the attack directly to the village. Orochimaru confidently accepts while Shinichi prepares to hunt Madara 123.
Despite Iwagakure’s numerical superiority, Orochimaru uses spies, reconnaissance squads, rugged mountain terrain, and a swift flanking attack to disrupt its rear and cut its supply routes and troop assembly points. He advances methodically rather than committing to a frontal assault 123.
Ōnoki’s personal arrival leads to a direct confrontation. Orochimaru lures him into a prepared barrier and uses his Eight-Headed Serpent form, nearly trapping him. Ōnoki breaks free, and both sustain injuries in the resulting clash. With his forces exhausted and their supplies severed, Ōnoki orders a retreat, leaving Orochimaru in possession of the battlefield. Konoha later receives confirmation of victory on all four fronts 123 129.
Shibai Ōtsutsuki and Divine Art Research
Much later, Shinichi delivers the intact corpse of Shibai Ōtsutsuki to Orochimaru’s underground laboratory. Unlike earlier Ōtsutsuki opponents who were destroyed completely, the preserved body offers an unprecedented opportunity to investigate a being potentially equivalent to a god. Shinichi orders Orochimaru to analyze its structure and source of power and find a way to make that power their own 177.
The delivery reignites Orochimaru’s stalled bloodline-replication research and intensifies his devotion to Shinichi. After Shinichi departs, he interprets the project as preparation for reaching Takama-ga-hara and vows to help his older brother attain godhood 177.
Orochimaru subsequently reports that the powers he calls “Divine Arts” operate by programming or overwriting the universe’s fundamental laws. By reverse-engineering Shibai’s corpse, he extracts a rudimentary fragment concerning existence and nonexistence 182.
When he presents the fragment, Shinichi stops him from prematurely attempting to invent new Divine Arts. Orochimaru accepts that identifying a result is not the same as understanding the mechanism well enough to reproduce it safely. His research is redirected toward practical enhancements for Konoha’s defenders 183.
Bloodline Enhancement Serum and Psychological Adaptation
Shinichi commissions a Bloodline Enhancement Serum intended to improve the Byakugan, Sharingan, Senju body, and even ordinary ninja’s physical ability and chakra reserves. Orochimaru promises an initial batch within three months and is told to obtain funding from Tsunade under the cover of a “Village-Wide Fitness Program” 183.
After more than ten thousand simulations and formulation trials, Orochimaru presents version 1.0, using fragments of Shibai’s genes as a primer. Minato, Nawaki, and trusted elite jonin volunteer for the dangerous trials, with Nawaki selected first because his Senju constitution makes him an ideal observation subject 184.
Nawaki’s injection causes violent cellular restructuring, uncontrolled chakra, and damage to the laboratory. Orochimaru celebrates the reaction as successful evolution, while Shinichi helps Nawaki regain control. Nawaki then manifests Wood Release: Deep Forest Emergence, filling the laboratory with a forest. Minato’s subsequent transformation further astonishes Orochimaru because he interprets it as absorption of divine code at a conceptual level rather than a purely genetic awakening 185 186.
The enhanced jonin develop a dangerous side effect: an Ōtsutsuki instinct of superiority that can erode their personalities. Orochimaru identifies it as a genetic instinct rather than ordinary mental contamination. Shinichi explains that personal will, emotions, responsibilities, and relationships function as a “firewall” against it, with Minato and Nawaki’s attachments helping them resist 187.
Orochimaru develops a second phase of adaptation training to strengthen emotional resilience. With the Hokage’s approval, he assigns the enhanced ninja to run a takoyaki stall at Konoha’s Summer Festival, requiring at least one hundred thousand ryo in daily revenue, customer approval above ninety-five percent, and no complaints about terrible service or food causing mass casualties 188.
The exercise exposes the group’s difficulty handling ordinary frustration without resorting to overwhelming power. Minato’s patient reunion of a lost child with his mother becomes a model of empathy for the others. Orochimaru records it as a small advance in rebuilding their emotional connections, with the “firewall patch” only five percent complete 188.
Twenty Years of Peace and Perception of Essence
Across twenty years of peace, Orochimaru continues observing combat performance and optimizing a new generation of ninja. Their enhanced bodies, chakra capacity, and recovery speed far exceed those of the old era, and the narration describes them as having almost no weaknesses. His scientific fervor is accompanied by satisfaction resembling that of a gardener admiring the flowers he has cultivated 198.
Shinichi later tells Orochimaru that his pursuit of immortality and truth is too narrow and grants him the ability to see “essence.” The overwhelming influx initially makes him collapse, convulse, and foam at the mouth. Through it, he perceives the composition of chakra, the shape of souls, formulas converting matter and energy, and the deeper Ōtsutsuki code of life within Kaguya 203.
Appearance
Orochimaru is introduced as a small, frail child with a thin face and worn-out clothing 12.
- Pale skin distinguishes his childhood appearance 12.
- Golden eyes with slit pupils remain his most frequently noted feature 12 15 18.
- Extreme bodily flexibility later becomes a defining combat trait, including the ability to dislocate bones and bend joints at unusual angles 49.
- Pale, handsome face and slightly hoarse, serpent-like voice characterize his later appearance in the laboratory 177.
- Pristine white research coat is worn when he presents the first Bloodline Enhancement Serum 184.
- Spotless beige coat and a handheld tablet accompany his combat-data recording after twenty years of peace 198.
Personality
Initially guarded and highly vigilant, Orochimaru reacts to kindness with hesitation rather than immediate trust. Shinichi’s household gives him a sense of security, and his gratitude becomes active loyalty: he defends Shinichi when Uchiha Kanon calls him a disgrace to the clan 12 13 14.
His curiosity is analytical and persistent. He studies the principles behind techniques rather than merely admiring their power, identifying the Rasengan’s rotation and compression after observing its damage. His thoughtfulness also extends to war: he questions why people kill without understanding what they are fighting for and expresses a desire to transcend that cycle 16 18.
Among friends, he is calm, practical, and capable of dry humor, sometimes reinforcing Shinichi’s teasing of Tsunade. Research eventually makes him more withdrawn, while battlefield experience produces a fighting philosophy centered on survival, deception, and punishing openings rather than direct clashes 24 25 39 49.
His independence remains important to his development. Even after gaining experience at Ryūchi Cave, he declines to fully pursue its Senjutsu because he wants a path of his own. That independence coexists with profound trust in Shinichi, whose guidance he increasingly treats as the foundation of his scientific ambitions 57 94.
Scientific excitement can overwhelm his concern for immediate danger. He celebrates Nawaki’s agonizing transformation as a beautiful evolutionary breakthrough while the other observers prepare to intervene. The opportunity to study Shibai likewise pushes his admiration for Shinichi toward near-religious devotion and ambitions of helping him reach godhood 177 185.
Nevertheless, Orochimaru remains responsive to Shinichi’s limits. He accepts the warning against premature law rewriting and redirects his work toward practical collective strength. His later adaptation research also expands beyond biology to emotional attachment and empathy, and after twenty years his enthusiasm includes genuine satisfaction in the growth of the ninja he has cultivated 183 187 188 198.
Abilities & Skills
Chakra Aptitude and Control
Orochimaru possesses all five basic chakra natures and an exceptional capacity to understand chakra mechanics 15 16.
- Masters tree climbing and water walking in little more than ten minutes 16.
- Recognizes that precise control could allow techniques to be performed without hand seals 16.
- Experiments with chakra-induced ripples to lure fish and considers further uses for controlled electrical current 14.
- His measured approach initially slows his Rasengan’s rotation, showing that precision alone does not guarantee sufficient speed 17 18.
Shadow Clone Technique
Shinichi teaches Orochimaru to create shadow clones and distribute chakra efficiently 14.
- Sends clones to Academy lessons while his original body trains elsewhere 14 24.
- Uses their returned memories to keep up with basic instruction 15 24.
- His early training requires extra effort because his chakra reserves have not yet stabilized 14.
Rasengan
Orochimaru learns Shinichi’s hand-sign-free technique through exercises in rotation, stability, and compression 17.
- Successfully completes the technique alongside Tsunade 19.
- His Rasengan is smaller than hers but exceptionally precise 19.
- Understands its underlying mechanics by examining the damage from Shinichi’s demonstration 16.
Snake Shadow Six Styles
Orochimaru adapts the Six Styles into an original taijutsu system emphasizing extreme evasion, deceptive movement, harassment, and counterattacks. Rather than meeting force directly, he uses flexibility and unpredictable positioning to survive and exploit openings 49.
- Shave: Snake Shadow Step — Combines high-speed movement with serpentine twisting, making his trajectory difficult to track while allowing evasive maneuvers at speed 49.
- Moonwalk: Snake Molt Sky Dance — Launches him into agile aerial movement; combined with Wind Release, it allows him to remain airborne while fighting 49.
- Iron Body: Snake Scale Hardening — Reinforces his skin with chakra and incorporates instantaneous skin-shedding to escape otherwise fatal damage 49.
- Kami-e: Snake Shadow Illusory Dance — Uses extreme flexibility to slip through attacks while remaining close to an opponent 49.
- Tempest Kick: Snake Fang Slash — Produces sharp, penetrating wind blades through chakra-charged kicks. Lightning Release adds a brief paralyzing effect on impact 49.
- Finger Pistol: Snake Venom Fang — Delivers toxic, chakra-enhanced strikes that disrupt an enemy’s chakra flow and can affect perception 49.
Snake Ninjutsu and Summoning
Despite his altered development, Orochimaru still develops snake-based ninjutsu and signs a summoning contract with Ryūchi Cave 49.
- Integrates snake-like movement, flexibility, and shedding into his close-combat system 49.
- Uses skeletal dislocation to evade slashes and ninjutsu in extremely tight spaces 49.
- His Ryūchi Cave contract is confirmed, but mastery of Sage Mode is not established 49.
- Visits Ryūchi Cave and gains experience, but explicitly chooses not to fully pursue its Senjutsu. Shinichi supplies Sage Body blood as a possible adaptation aid; successful integration or a resulting personal transformation is not confirmed 55 57.
- Uses an Eight-Headed Serpent form during his battle with Ōnoki, combining it with prepared traps and a barrier 123.
Lightning Release Chakra Mode
Shinichi teaches Orochimaru how to use Lightning Release Chakra Mode, bringing a technique associated with the Raikage into Konoha’s repertoire 54.
- His instruction is confirmed, but the extent of his individual mastery is not specified 54.
- Shinichi’s Sage-enhanced lightning forms are not established as Orochimaru’s abilities 57 58.
Tactical Planning and Research
Orochimaru’s precise battlefield planning earns recognition even before his jonin promotion 28.
- Independently researches forbidden techniques 38 39.
- Discusses chakra-nature fusion with Shinichi 49.
- Proposes research into evolving the human body to its ultimate limits 49.
- Develops human-enhancement experiments under Shinichi’s supervision 60.
- Assists Hydrogen Release research by recording experimental details and diagnosing failed chakra-fusion attempts 95.
- Commands troops from the Ino-Shika-Cho clans and Sarutobi Clan on the Land of Earth front 122 123.
- Uses spies, reconnaissance, terrain, flanking maneuvers, and logistical disruption to counter Iwagakure’s superior numbers 123.
- Sets a prepared barrier trap for Ōnoki and holds the battlefield after the enemy retreat 123.
- Maintains long-term combat-data records and uses them to optimize later generations of ninja 198.
Divine Art and Ōtsutsuki Research
Studying Shibai’s intact corpse allows Orochimaru to investigate powers beyond conventional chakra techniques and kekkei genkai. He characterizes “Divine Arts” as programming and overwriting the universe’s underlying laws, interpreting abilities such as Amenominaka and Sukunahikona as modifications of spatial laws rather than simple creation of space 177 182.
- Extracts a primitive fragment of law code concerning existence and nonexistence 182.
- Can present the fragment as a revolving, light-devouring conceptual mass in his palm 183.
- Recognizes, after Shinichi’s correction, that his success relies on reverse-engineering a finished product and does not mean that he understands how to safely rewrite laws 183.
- Redirects the biological findings toward bloodline enhancement rather than immediately inventing new Divine Arts 183.
- Later gains perception of chakra composition, soul structure, matter-energy conversion, and Kaguya’s deeper Ōtsutsuki life code through Shinichi’s gift of “essence” vision 203.
- Neither the early extracted fragment nor the later perceptual gift establishes unrestricted reality rewriting or confirmed godhood 183 203.
Bloodline Enhancement Serum
Orochimaru develops the Bloodline Enhancement Serum version 1.0 from fragments of Shibai’s genes, following more than ten thousand simulations and formulation trials. Its intended function is to elevate physical potential and chakra affinity, overcome hereditary limitations, and make substantial enhancement available even to ordinary ninja 183 184.
- Nawaki’s trial — Triggers intense cellular restructuring and awakens dormant Senju factors, culminating in controlled Wood Release: Deep Forest Emergence 185.
- Minato’s trial — Produces a change Orochimaru interprets as conceptual overwriting and active absorption of divine code, rather than a solely genetic awakening 186.
- Known side effect — Ōtsutsuki genetic arrogance can erode personality and make recipients regard ordinary people as inferior 187.
- Personal-use limitation — The documented early trials concern Nawaki, Minato, and other trusted jonin; Orochimaru’s own use of the serum is not established 184 185 186 187.
Psychological Adaptation and Emotional Resilience
Orochimaru identifies the enhanced jonin’s arrogance as an instinct embedded in Ōtsutsuki genes. Building on Shinichi’s “virus” and “firewall” analogy, he develops a second adaptation phase centered on strengthening recipients’ mental cores and emotional attachments 187 188.
- Studies the protective role of loved ones, responsibilities, will, and ordinary human emotions 187.
- Maintains a report titled “Clinical observations on strengthening mental thresholds and emotional attachment” 188.
- Uses festival work, customer service, frustration, and direct interaction with civilians as practical psychological training 188.
- Records Minato’s compassionate handling of a lost child as progress toward restoring the group’s empathy 188.
- The initial “firewall patch” reaches five percent, indicating an ongoing process rather than a complete cure 188.
Equipment / Facilities
- Secret laboratory — Located three floors beneath the Uchiha clan head’s residence and built by Shinichi. Seals reinforce its surroundings and suppress sound and chakra fluctuations. By Chapter 46, it belongs to Orochimaru; its funding comes from military funds Shinichi redirects from the Uchiha radical faction 46.
- Expanded scientific facility — After the initial funds are exhausted, Orochimaru supplies continuing investment while Shinichi manages expansion. It grows beyond Tobirama’s inherited laboratory and supports senjutsu, forbidden-technique, sealing, genetic, and power-combination research 59.
- Shinichi’s Sage Body blood — A sealed test tube provided for research and as a possible aid to surviving Ryūchi Cave’s adaptation process 55.
- Research notes — Shinichi directs him to notes left by Tobirama and himself in the basement laboratory 55.
- Shibai Ōtsutsuki’s corpse — Delivered intact by Shinichi and used as the basis for Divine Art reverse-engineering and the Bloodline Enhancement Serum 177 182 184.
- Serum storage equipment — A special-metal refrigerated cart carries more than a dozen dark, light-absorbing vials containing the star-like silver serum 184.
- Cultivation tanks and precision instruments — Support the enhancement trials and monitoring; Nawaki’s Wood Release damages and overgrows part of the laboratory during the first successful transformation 177 184 185.
- Clinical observation booklet — Documents mental thresholds, emotional attachments, and the enhanced ninja’s psychological adaptation 188.
- Combat-data tablet — Used to record the optimized generation’s performance after twenty years of peace 198.
Relationships
- Uchiha Shinichi — Found-family older brother and first major mentor. Gives Orochimaru a home, protection, and advanced training; Orochimaru calls him “Big Brother Shinichi” and later develops his teachings independently 12 14 49. Their bond develops into a close research partnership, with Orochimaru supplying financial backing and experimental expertise while Shinichi sets strategic priorities and restrains premature or dangerous ambitions. Shinichi gives him Sage Body blood, Shibai’s corpse, and later perception of “essence”; Orochimaru’s gratitude becomes increasingly fervent devotion 55 59 94 177 183 203.
- Uchiha Raishin and Xueli — Welcome him into their household as family, turning Shinichi’s invitation into a lasting home 12 15.
- Tsunade — Childhood friend, training partner, and teammate. Shares his riverside lessons and wartime service; he later acknowledges the exceptional power of her fists 14 27 49. They witness Shinichi’s duel with Hiruzen together. As Hokage, she challenges the serum program’s dangers but approves the festival stall used for its psychological adaptation phase 58 187 188.
- Jiraiya — Academy peer and teammate under Hiruzen. Joins the riverside group and fights beside Orochimaru during the Iwagakure encirclement 24 27 32. They later serve as commanders on separate fronts during the Second Shinobi World War 123.
- Hiruzen Sarutobi — Team leader after graduation and later Third. Orochimaru’s advancement contributes to Hiruzen’s growing political influence 27 39. Hiruzen later places him in command of the Land of Earth front 122.
- Tobirama Senju — Recognizes Orochimaru’s development and praises his individual interpretation of the Six Styles 49. Notes left by Tobirama are among the research resources Shinichi offers before Orochimaru’s Ryūchi Cave trip 55.
- Shimura Danzō — A scientific patron in the original timeline, but not his controlling influence in this version. Shinichi considers Orochimaru’s independence a major loss to Danzō’s future plans 38. Orochimaru reports Root’s creation and agrees to assist Shinichi’s adoption plans for endangered bloodline children, rather than supplying Danzō with scientific support 57 60.
- Ōnoki — Opposing commander and direct battlefield adversary. Orochimaru traps and fights him on the Land of Earth front; both are injured, but Ōnoki ultimately withdraws. Their confrontation includes mutual respect despite their hostility 123.
- Sakumo Hatake — Fellow wartime commander present at Shinichi’s coordination meeting before the four-front offensive 123.
- Shibai Ōtsutsuki — His preserved corpse becomes Orochimaru’s most extraordinary research subject, opening paths into Divine Arts, Ōtsutsuki genetics, and bloodline enhancement 177 182 184.
- Senju Nawaki — First subject of the version 1.0 serum trials. Orochimaru views his Senju constitution as ideal for observation and celebrates his Wood Release awakening as successful evolution 184 185.
- Minato Namikaze — Serum recipient and participant in the psychological adaptation program. His conceptual transformation fascinates Orochimaru, while his empathy toward a lost child supplies an important example of emotional recovery 186 188.

Trivia
- His jonin promotion occurs one year earlier than in the original timeline, and the narration explicitly states that his strength exceeds that of his original counterpart 49.
- His “Undying Viper” reputation describes extraordinary survival, not confirmed literal immortality. The demand to “kill him ten times” appears as a saying among other ninja 49.
