In Konoha Year 16, the shadow of war still loomed over the Shinobi World, but Konoha welcomed a new group of ninja.
Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya, the three brightest talents of their generation in Konoha, officially graduated from the Ninja Academy and began their lives as true ninja.
At the graduation ceremony, the three stood in the front row, wearing brand-new forehead protectors that marked them as official Konoha genin.
Tsunade beamed, her golden pigtails swaying gently in the breeze. She clenched her fists and smiled confidently. "I finally graduated! Next, I'm going to become a great ninja just like Grandpa!"
Orochimaru, standing beside her, was much quieter. He narrowed his golden, slit-pupiled eyes slightly, the faintest smile playing on his lips. His gaze was deep, as though he was already contemplating the road ahead.
"I've finally taken the first step. Shinobi World... just wait for me."
As for Jiraiya, his face was brimming with excitement. He huffed through his nose and planted his hands on his hips, looking utterly triumphant. "Haha! The future super ninja, the legend of the Shinobi World—Lord Jiraiya—has officially arrived!"
A second later, Tsunade unceremoniously punched him to the ground.
Their jonin instructor was still Hiruzen Sarutobi.
"From today onward, the three of you are officially ninja. I'll personally guide you until you become warriors capable of standing on your own." Hiruzen Sarutobi stood before them, his expression gentle but serious. "But remember, being a ninja isn't just about fighting. It's a responsibility. I hope you'll keep that in mind."
At those words, Tsunade straightened her back and nodded earnestly. "Yes!"
Orochimaru's eyes flickered, and he gave a slight nod. "Understood."
Only Jiraiya thumped his chest and laughed without a care. "Don't worry, Sensei! I'll become the strongest ninja, even stronger than you!"
Hiruzen Sarutobi looked at him, torn between laughter and exasperation. "Then you'd better work hard..."
From that moment, the legendary careers of the Sannin officially began.
Meanwhile, Uchiha Shinichi stood quietly a short distance away, watching the graduation ceremony from afar. His lips curved slightly, a knowing hint of amusement in his eyes.
"Little Tsunade, Orochimaru, Jiraiya... you've finally graduated."
His gaze lingered on Tsunade, and his smile deepened. Then he stretched lazily, turned, and headed toward Tobirama Senju's training ground.
Their story had only just begun, and Shinichi's own path was quietly unfolding...
Night lay still over the Senju ancestral residence, where candlelight flickered.
The Go board on the wooden table was already covered in black and white stones. The match was deadlocked, with lethal threats lurking beneath the surface.
Tobirama Senju sat upright at the table, his sharp gaze fixed on the board. His white hair gleamed coldly in the dim light, and his fingertips tapped lightly against the tabletop as he considered his next move.
Across from him, Uchiha Shinichi rested his chin on one hand, looking utterly relaxed. A contented smile lingered on his lips as he gently rolled a black stone between his fingertips.
On the board, the black stones had formed a subtle connected line. One more move would cut off Tobirama's options completely.
Shinichi lazily raised his eyes to the frowning Tobirama, his lips curling upward. "Old man, ready to admit defeat?"
The white stone in Tobirama Senju's hand paused, and an almost imperceptible flicker passed through his eyes.
Had he lost?
Tobirama's gaze returned to the board, his mind rapidly analyzing whether there was still a chance to turn the game around.
But every part of Shinichi's setup linked seamlessly to the next, cleverly blocking all his escape routes.
After a moment, Tobirama Senju slowly set down the white stone in his hand and spoke calmly. "Hmph. A game of Go is merely a contest of minds. Winning and losing are perfectly ordinary."
Shinichi smiled and stretched, casually placing his final black stone to seal the game completely. "Well, well. The Second Hokage of the Senju, willingly conceding defeat. Now that's a rare sight."
Tobirama glanced at him, his tone even. "It's only a game. The true outcome won't be decided on this board, but far into the future."
Shinichi's gaze stilled. He narrowed his eyes and gave Tobirama Senju a meaningful look, his smile deepening. Beneath his lazy manner, a trace of contemplation surfaced.
"The future..." Shinichi murmured.
The wind brushed softly past the window, and the candle flame flickered. This game had ended, but the game between master and student was far from over.
Ever since Uchiha Shinichi had crossed over into the world of Naruto, he had felt lost.
He had thought he would be like the protagonists in novels, blessed with a cheat, invincible from the start, and destined to reach the pinnacle of life.
Reality, however, was far crueler than he had imagined.
This was the war-torn Shinobi World, filled with slaughter and conspiracies, and he was only a seven-year-old child.
Even more frustrating, he had not only become a member of the Uchiha Clan, but had arrived just after Hashirama Senju's death, when the Shinobi World was in turmoil.
The conflict between the Senju and Uchiha still persisted, and power struggles simmered beneath the surface in Konoha. Alone in this storm, he, a "transmigrator," seemed especially insignificant.
Where was he supposed to go from here?
Become an ordinary Uchiha and drift along with the tide?
Or strive to grow stronger and escape this turbulent game?
He did not want to become a sacrifice in a struggle for power, but he was unwilling to spend his days in mediocrity either.
He had memories of his previous life and knew the course the future would take, yet he could not be certain whether he could truly change anything.
Was he a piece on this board, or the one moving the pieces?
Shinichi had once tried to stop trying and live the carefree, lazy life he wanted, but reality had never given him that chance.
The system's arrival had completely shattered his fantasy of an easy life, constantly pushing him forward.
It was only when Tsunade and Orochimaru appeared that he first felt a bond tying him to this world.
He slowly began to accept his identity and consider what he truly wanted.
Tobirama Senju's attention, life at the Ninja Academy, and each battle and step of growth gradually helped him escape his initial confusion.
Perhaps he did not need to deliberately change anything. Perhaps he only needed to live naturally in this world and leave his own unique mark.
One day, amid the upheaval of the Shinobi World, he would find his own path...
The Senju Clan Compound, Konoha.
Morning sunlight spilled over the streets, and a gentle breeze stirred the leaves lining the roads. Everything was peaceful and quiet.
The members of the Senju Clan were long accustomed to coming and going freely within their own territory. They knew one another, and the atmosphere was harmonious.
Today, however, an especially conspicuous figure appeared on the street—Uchiha Shinichi.
The boy strolled leisurely through the Senju Clan Compound with his hands in his pockets, a stalk of foxtail grass from who knew where dangling between his lips. His eyes were lazy, and a faint, indifferent smile rested on his face.
His clothing, however, drew sidelong glances from the surrounding Senju—the black robes of the Uchiha Clan, with their vivid red fan crest on the back, were especially jarring among the Senju clansmen.
Parading through Senju territory wearing the Uchiha crest looked like a provocation no matter how one viewed it.
Along the way, quite a few Senju frowned and whispered among themselves.
"Who's that kid? An Uchiha?"
"What's he doing wandering around our Senju Clan Compound?"
"He's not here to cause trouble on purpose, is he...?"
"Shh! He's Lord Hokage's student!"
At those words, the whispers immediately quieted somewhat, though their gazes remained probing and wary.
Shinichi naturally noticed those looks, but remained completely unruffled. His lips even curved slightly as he silently grumbled, Tch, the Senju Clan is still so guarded. Sure enough, I'm an outsider here.
He did not care. He even leisurely winked at one of the Senju staring at him, nearly making the man bristle on the spot.
"Hey, you little brat!"
A low voice came from ahead. Shinichi looked up and saw a young man in Senju clan attire standing in the middle of the road, arms folded across his chest as he stared at him with clear hostility.
"What are you doing wandering around our Senju Clan Compound? Do you need something?" The young man's tone carried obvious impatience.
Shinichi stopped lazily and tilted his head at him, wearing a smile that practically begged for a punch. "What? Are Uchiha not welcome on Senju territory? Your Lord Tobirama brought me in himself, openly and properly."
At the mention of "Lord Tobirama," the young man frowned slightly, clearly wary of crossing a line, though the displeasure on his face did not fade.
Seeing that, Shinichi had no intention of lingering to toy with them. He shrugged and stretched. "All right, all right. I'm just passing through. Why are you so nervous? Stop acting like I'm here to wreck the place."
With that, he continued strolling forward, entirely unaffected by the gazes around him.
The Senju behind him continued staring at his retreating back, complicated expressions on their faces.
Uchiha Shinichi really was a headache.
Tobirama's courtyard, in the Senju Clan Compound.
Morning light filtered through the shadows of bamboo in the courtyard. A breeze swept along the stone path, lifting a few fallen maple leaves. Their mingled shades of red and yellow spun briefly through the air before settling gently on the ground.
The courtyard was quiet and imposing, every detail reflecting the Senju Clan's characteristic steadiness and sense of order.
Uchiha Shinichi entered at an unhurried pace, his slouching posture completely at odds with the solemn atmosphere.
His Uchiha clan robes stirred gently in the breeze, the bright red fan crest on his back particularly conspicuous in Tobirama Senju's courtyard.
Yet Tobirama Senju, seated in the center of the courtyard, seemed to have expected his arrival.
Tobirama sat upright on the wooden veranda, holding a cup of tea. His white hair reflected a cold gleam in the morning light.
He quietly gazed ahead, his expression composed and his eyes as deep as an abyss, as though nothing in the world could move him.
Shinichi walked to the center of the courtyard, stopped, and tilted his head. "Old man, don't tell me you've been sitting here waiting for me."
Tobirama lifted his eyes slightly, his gaze calm and undisturbed. He gently blew the steam from his tea and said evenly, "If you were coming anyway, why ask?"
The corner of Shinichi's mouth twitched. This old man's way of speaking was as blunt as ever.
He shrugged, sat casually on the wooden veranda, and looked up at the clear blue sky. "Fine, then. Since you were waiting for me, I suppose I'll ask. What do you want?"
Tobirama set down his teacup, his gaze finally settling on Shinichi. His voice was low and devoid of emotion. "Shinichi, you've progressed rapidly lately. But have you considered that your repertoire of ninjutsu still has weaknesses?"
Shinichi raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a knowing smile. "Weaknesses? You mean I don't know Flying Thunder God?"
Tobirama did not deny it. He nodded calmly. "Your fighting style is highly creative, but you lack a technique that can subdue an enemy in an instant." His gaze blazed, so sharp it seemed to pierce straight through Shinichi. "You've already mastered the Shadow Clone and Rasengan, and can even use the Six Styles, but none of those is a decisive killing move. In a real battle, an outcome decided in a split second often determines life or death."
Shinichi rubbed his chin and narrowed his eyes, apparently considering something.
"So, you're going to teach me Flying Thunder God?" His tone was casual, but held a hint of probing curiosity.
Tobirama's gaze shifted slightly. He took a sip of tea before speaking slowly. "Flying Thunder God is not a technique you can master as you are now."
Shinichi rolled his eyes. "Fine. Then what exactly are you getting at?"
Tobirama said evenly, "I'll teach you something else, something sufficient to make up for your weakness."
A spark of interest flashed in Shinichi's eyes. "Oh? Let's hear it."
Tobirama smiled slightly, his gaze deep and his voice steady. "The Sensory Technique."
Shinichi paused briefly, then his lips curved into a smile. "The Sensory Technique? Now that's something useful..."
Morning sunlight spilled into the courtyard, and bamboo leaves swayed gently. Their conversation seemed to usher in a new chapter.
