In Konoha's sixteenth year, war engulfed the shinobi world.
Ever since graduating from the Ninja Academy alongside Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya, Uchiha Shinichi's life had changed considerably.
In the old days, he could always lounge on a rock beside the Naka River, enjoying the breeze and sunshine while waiting for his Shadow Clone to bring back what it had learned at the academy. His own duties consisted of grilling fish, chatting, and even teasing Tsunade to watch her fly into a rage.
But now, those days seemed gone for good.
As Hiruzen Sarutobi's students, Tsunade, Orochimaru, and Jiraiya had officially entered the battlefield to carry out wartime missions.
They accompanied the troops Tobirama had carefully selected, moving between the shinobi world's various battlefields and witnessing the brutality of the war firsthand.
As a descendant of the Senju Clan, Tsunade had received special training from Tobirama Senju since childhood. Now, she was using her outstanding medical skills to treat countless wounded on the front lines.
Apparently, her chakra control had already reached an astonishing level. On the battlefield, she could even stabilize critically wounded patients with ordinary Medical Ninjutsu.
Orochimaru remained cool and composed. His tactical planning was exceptionally precise, and he repeatedly distinguished himself in battle. Even the village's senior leadership had begun to notice this young genius. Rumors even claimed that if Konoha needed a new leader after the war, Orochimaru would certainly be among the candidates for Hokage.
As for Jiraiya... Shinichi had heard that he had tried to flirt with a kunoichi from an enemy nation on the battlefield, only to be chased halfway down the street. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
News like this reached Konoha every so often, while Shinichi spent his days within the clan, at the training grounds, or even in Tobirama Senju's study.
His training workload was heavier than before. From time to time, Tobirama would summon him and personally guide his tactical thinking and ninjutsu practice.
Those days beside the Naka River had become a memory he could scarcely put into words.
One day, Shinichi leaned back in Tobirama Senju's courtyard, chewing on a stem of foxtail grass, and sighed wistfully:
"Ah, life was so much better when all I had to do was grill fish..."
Reality, however, would not let him keep dwelling on those carefree days.
His father, Uchiha Raishin, was stationed on the front lines, locked in fierce combat with Kumogakure's shinobi.
The front between Konoha and Kumogakure grew increasingly tense, and clashes between the two sides became ever more intense.
Kumogakure's Lightning Release Ninjutsu had demonstrated astonishing suppressive power on the battlefield. As an elite jonin of the Uchiha Clan, Uchiha Raishin was leading his clansmen into the thick of the fighting, confronting the Cloud Ninja's elite forces head-on.
Although detailed reports of the fighting had yet to arrive, Shinichi knew all too well that war was never merciful.
Konoha still maintained a semblance of peace, but he knew that this tranquility was only a fleeting illusion. The flames of war could spread here at any moment.
He had to grow stronger.
Not only for himself, but also for the people he cherished.
"Looks like the easy days really are over..." Shinichi sighed softly and stood, gazing at the distant sky as his eyes gradually grew thoughtful and resolute.
Shinichi stepped into the Uchiha Residence. The courtyard was quiet, and a passing breeze set the wind chimes beneath the veranda ringing clearly.
He changed into his indoor clogs and walked slowly across the wooden floor into the living room. The familiar atmosphere of home helped him relax a little. Yet the residence, once so full of life, now felt rather empty.
"Mother, I'm home," Shinichi called casually, his lazy tone carrying the familiar warmth of habit.
Busy in the kitchen, Xueli poked her head out at his voice and smiled gently. "Shinichi, you're back? Dinner's almost ready. We'll be able to eat in a moment."
Shinichi casually took off his jacket and draped it to one side, then walked to the kitchen doorway. Leaning against the frame, he watched his mother expertly stir-fry the food in the pan. The faint aroma of dinner filled the air, making his eyes narrow slightly.
"Father..." Shinichi hesitated, then asked quietly.
Xueli's hands paused briefly before resuming their unhurried movements. "He's still at the front," she said calmly. "The fighting has been intense lately. As a jonin, of course he has to lead our clansmen into battle."
Shinichi asked no further questions. He simply nodded, walked over to the table, and sat down, his fingers tapping unconsciously against its surface.
The entire Uchiha Clan had become quieter and more tense than before because of this war.
As Uchiha Raishin's son, he had grown accustomed to seeing his clansmen march off to fight for the village from an early age.
Only now, when the flames of war had truly reached his own family, did he understand the sense of danger buried beneath the peace of everyday life.
Xueli noticed the conflicting emotions in her son's eyes. Carrying a bowl of miso soup over to him, she set it down gently and said softly, "Shinichi, don't worry too much. Your father has always been dependable. He'll come home safely."
Looking into his mother's gentle eyes, Shinichi felt a little warmth in his heart. Then he shrugged and smiled. "Yeah, I know. Besides, if Father gets hurt, Tsunade will definitely beat him up before healing him."
Xueli couldn't help laughing softly, tender affection in her eyes. "That's true. Tsunade may talk tough, but she cares more than anyone."
Shinichi picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of the fish his mother had pan-fried, and bit into it. The familiar flavor made his eyes narrow slightly.
No matter how turbulent the world outside became, at least there was still a warm meal waiting for him at home.
Night lay still over the training grounds of the Uchiha Residence. Stars dotted the deep night sky, and moonlight spilled into the courtyard, casting a faint silver glow.
Shinichi sat cross-legged in the center of the grounds, his eyes gently closed and his breathing slow and even.
Chakra circulated continuously through his body, flowing slowly along his chakra pathways. Like a tranquil stream one moment and blazing fire the next, it grew calm or surged at his will.
This, however, was no ordinary chakra circulation. It was the Spirit Transformation Technique, radically reworked by Shinichi himself based on a system mission!
He had abandoned traditional shinobi training methods, continually using the unique stimulation of the system's "Electric Shock Package" to forcibly temper his Soul Power and transform the very nature of his chakra.
"Hsss—"
A mild electric current swept through his entire body in an instant, like invisible thunder exploding within him. Shinichi frowned slightly, and a few fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
It felt as though an invisible hand was constantly twisting, hammering, and polishing the depths of his soul, gradually making his mind more focused and clear.
Although this method was painful, Shinichi had already grown used to it.
"If I can't even endure this little bit of pain to master Ryujin Jakka, what kind of transmigrator am I?"
He slowly exhaled, channeling his chakra to ease the tingling from the electric shock while sensing the subtle changes deep within his soul.
In the past, although his chakra reserves had already been immense, the strength of his soul had fallen far short of what was required to wield Ryujin Jakka.
Whenever he activated shikai, he could feel that searing pressure, as though it were burning his very soul.
If he wanted to wield the strongest fire-type Zanpakuto, his soul had to advance further!
"Again," Shinichi murmured. His hands formed hand seals as he continued circulating chakra through his body, silently reciting the system command—
[Ding—Soul power enhancement initiated!]
In an instant, a stronger electric current coursed through his entire body. His soul felt as though it were burning in a raging fire. Shinichi's brow furrowed tightly, and the veins at his temples throbbed faintly.
He took a deep breath and endured the pain of his soul being tempered, allowing the current to surge wildly through his body. At the same time, he continually adjusted the flow of his chakra, guiding it into the depths of his soul to make it gradually more concentrated and pure.
This was not merely training his body. It was pushing his mind to its limits!
Beneath the moonlight, faint ripples of energy appeared around Shinichi. His presence grew increasingly steady, and his mental state rose to another level without him even realizing it.
"Good. Strengthening my Soul Power really does let me master Ryujin Jakka faster..."
Shinichi slowly opened his eyes. A glimmer flashed deep within them, and a faint smile curved his lips.
This path was difficult, but... it was worth it!
