Ch. 1Arriving in the Pokémon world and setting out on a journey
Plot points and events
- Liu Qing awakens after spending six years in a vegetative state. His parents, Bofeng Yu and Mili, are overwhelmed with relief when he recognizes them and calls them Mom and Dad.
- Liu Qing’s consciousness comes from a Pokémon-loving boy from Earth who died in a car accident. His memories merge with those of the original Liu Qing, leaving him with a combined identity.
- The chapter explains how Liu Qing was injured at age four: he secretly followed poachers in Hoenn and freed a captured Bagon, but a Crobat’s Poison Fang damaged his brain. His bodyguards arrived in time to save him, and the rescued Bagon remained with him.
- After a month of recovery, Liu Qing visits the clan’s breeding grounds with his younger brother. He reunites with Bagon and meets his cousin Lorelei, who has arranged for him to register with Professor Oak in Pallet Town.
- Liu Qing wants to begin his Trainer journey immediately. Since the clan’s current supply of eligible Pokémon Eggs has already been claimed, Lorelei suggests he use Bagon as his first Pokémon; its final evolution, Salamence, is part Flying-type. Mili and Lorelei urge him to wait until the following year.
Character developments and interactions
- Liu Qing adjusts to his new life and feels the emotional force of having a loving family, especially his mother’s affection.
- He shows courage and determination, but his childhood rescue attempt also underscores his recklessness and vulnerability.
- Bofeng Yu is relieved by his son’s awakening and accepts him regardless of whether his memories survived.
- Mili is deeply protective after Liu Qing’s long illness and is reluctant to let him travel before he has fully recovered.
- Lorelei is supportive but cautious: she helps arrange Liu Qing’s registration while advising him not to rush.
- Liu Qing’s bond with Bagon is reaffirmed when Bagon eagerly leaps into his arms.
