The preliminaries continued. A few matches after Sasuke passed, it was Haku's turn.
Like Sasuke, Haku used no ninjutsu. He knocked his opponent out of the ring with nothing but the most basic taijutsu.
When Karin's turn came, she faced someone who might have been troublesome for the others: a man who could absorb other people's chakra.
Other genin would have found an enemy capable of draining chakra very difficult to handle. After all, genin did not have much chakra to begin with.
Unfortunately for him, his opponent was Karin, one of the few remaining members of the Uzumaki Clan in the Shinobi World.
Karin might have lacked plenty of things, but chakra was not one of them.
Her opponent was still congratulating himself on grabbing Karin and being able to absorb her chakra when she punched him senseless.
As Karin finished her fight with ease,
several of Konoha's team leaders gathered to chat.
"Aren't those three from the Land of Grass a little too strong?"
Asuma spoke with a cigarette between his lips.
"From what they've shown, they're at least at the level of elite chunin. I think they could even make a push for jonin without much trouble."
Kurenai Yuhi spoke from beside him.
"It's hard to say about the others, but Sasuke Uchiha should be roughly at jonin level. Have you forgotten Uchiha Itachi?
"Uchiha Itachi was only thirteen when he became an Anbu Captain, and he had the same Three-Tomoe Sharingan.
"And Sasuke Uchiha is Uchiha Itachi's younger brother. Itachi was a genius back then, so naturally, his younger brother Sasuke wouldn't be weak."
"It's not just the Uchiha. The other two are strong as well. Neither of them has used ninjutsu so far."
