His consciousness shifted, and when Rex opened his eyes again, he was already inside the Warcraft System. This time, he immediately noticed something different. In the past, he had always entered on a narrow, winding path. He could only move forward along it; the other three directions were barred to him, leaving him with an oppressive feeling.

This time, however, the first thing Rex sensed was freedom. His hazy field of vision, once limited to a few meters, had opened up. He was still standing on that same narrow path, and the marks on the road ahead showed where he had walked before.

Around him stretched a lush green grassland, its wild grass growing thick and vigorous. Apart from the cleared path, the grass looked to be about a meter tall, reaching his waist. A rustling sound rang out. Rex's eyes sharpened, and apprehension gripped him. There was no breeze inside the Warcraft System, and all the grass had been still. Yet now, something was rustling.

Rex knew all too well what that meant. His sharp gaze swept back and forth, searching for the source of the sound.

As though something had suddenly occurred to him, Rex broke into a sprint along the narrow path, racing toward his base. His legs drove him forward in long strides, and he covered more than ten meters in moments. Just then, several swift black shapes burst out of the thick grass and leaped onto the path.

"Awoooo!" A wolf's howl reached Rex's ears. He did not need to turn around to know what kind of monsters had emerged behind him.

In that empty silence, the howling rang out loud and clear. It grew steadily more distinct until it sounded as though the wolves were howling right beside his ears.
