A vast contingent marched out of the Barracks, quickly emptying the building. Rex's primary objective was to scout the area surrounding the base and look for possible threats. Still, he had not sent out every last soldier; he had left most of his forces behind to guard the base.
Strictly speaking, the base was far more important than Rex himself. After all, if Rex died here, his real-world self would not die. But if the base was gone, it would truly be gone.
Before leaving the base, Rex had also made some preparations. Besides leaving troops to guard it, he had built Watch Towers nearby. He had not built Defense Towers because they took far too long to construct.
