Rex plopped down on the ground with the Ashbringer in his arms. Without a shred of decorum, he lifted his water flask and gulped it down, his throat bobbing.

Though his head felt ready to split, Rex wore a smile. His perseverance this time had rewarded him greatly, for it had taught him what perseverance truly meant. "Perseverance leads to victory" was easy enough to say, but putting it into practice was incredibly difficult. How many people could truly manage it?

That was not even Rex's greatest gain. His greatest gain was the increase in his strength, bringing him another step closer to reaching the late Hero stage.

This advance had saved Rex several years. If reaching the late Hero stage would have taken him ten years before, now he would only need seven. Shaving off three years at once was a considerable improvement.

The Sunwell had finally been purified, and every source of corruption had vanished completely.
