"Another rare day of fine weather," Rex sighed. The weather was lovely, but his troubles kept coming one after another.
While Rex was busy dealing with the gnolls, Prince Galen arrived. After receiving Stromgarde's last heir, Rex noticed that his complexion was even worse than at their previous meeting, and he had lost a great deal of weight. That alone spoke volumes. Prince Galen had not been living well lately, and his dispirited air told Rex just how miserable his circumstances were.
After losing its capital, Stromgarde, the Kingdom of Stromgarde had also lost its symbol of authority in the Arathi Highlands. Its strength had declined sharply, leaving it with only a few final strongholds.
How could Rex not know why Prince Galen had come to see him? He wanted Rex to send troops. Rex had once promised to help him reclaim Stromgarde.
But with the Burning Legion's threat looming, Rex could not possibly send troops to Stromgarde. Their meeting was therefore less than cordial, though it did not end in a falling-out. Prince Galen understood what mattered and did not dare turn against him. Every hope Stromgarde had rested on Rex. Without him, who would help Stromgarde? Who would help Prince Galen reclaim it?
Stormwind City could not be counted on at all. In the original history, those people had never even considered driving the ogres out of Stromgarde. Stromgarde held enormous significance. It represented the first empire in human history and had been humanity's first capital, more than worthy of serving as a symbol of humankind. Sadly, that was all in the past. Stromgarde's glory had long since faded. Over a thousand years of imperial fragmentation, Greymane and the others had worked, generation after generation, to gradually diminish its influence.
In Rex's plans, Stromgarde would unquestionably be reclaimed.
