In Lordaeron City, Rex stood in his courtyard, gazing toward Kalimdor. After a long while, he sighed. The situation in Kalimdor was far from promising. As for the Book of Medivh, Rex believed the matter would reach its conclusion in a few more days.

Medivh had been appearing frequently of late, and Rex could already sense the gathering storm.

Compared with the steady stream of bad news from Kalimdor, good news kept coming from the Gnolls. Baron Ailiboxu was a capable man, and he had carried out Rex's orders well. In his last message, he had informed Rex that he had already brought more than forty thousand Gnoll soldiers under his command. This was not a population count padded with the old and young. Every one of them was a young, able-bodied Gnoll-a force of genuine substance.

Baron Ailiboxu's smooth progress also prompted Rex to accelerate his next undertaking: finding weapons and equipment for the Gnolls. If he was going to bring them to Mount Hyjal to fight for their lives, he certainly would not send them there in shorts, their upper bodies bare, looking utterly miserable. Rex was not sending the Gnolls to their deaths. He wanted them to put their strength to use against the Burning Legion's assault. If all he wanted was for them to die, why go to such trouble? He could simply have killed them himself.

Weapons and equipment were therefore absolutely essential. If their equipment proved inadequate and they failed to hold back the Burning Legion, the consequences would be dire. Rex dared not be careless about this.
