The hazy darkness slowly receded, and a white line appeared on the distant horizon. Its dazzling glow shone through the night like a beacon.

A Magic Crystal hovered in the air, constantly circling within a hundred-meter radius. Beyond it, a dozen sturdy men stood in the cool breeze, weapons in hand. Their keen eyes watched the darkness, their bodies motionless.

Time ticked by, and before long, daylight had fully arrived.

The circling Magic Crystal had stopped moving and hung quietly in midair, swaying in the northeasterly wind.

Footsteps rang out as a group approached briskly. The man leading them was entirely concealed beneath a black cloak. It was Medivh.

"Install all the crystals!" Medivh ordered the people behind him in a low voice as he drew near.

The people accompanying Medivh were Mages, their loose robes spotless. Each held a Magic Crystal. Unlike the crystals in their hands, the one floating in midair was only used for lighting. Ordinary people, far removed from magic, lacked knowledge and held low status, so they called it a Magic Crystal. Mages, however, had another name for the floating crystal: an illumination lamp.

The Mages moved swiftly, stepping forward one after another to stand before the great gateway ahead.

A Portal capable of allowing hundreds of thousands of soldiers to cross the Great Sea could only be a Fixed Portal.

There were two kinds of Portals: those that could be used anytime, anywhere, and Fixed Portals.

Both had their advantages and disadvantages. Neither was inherently better; which one suited someone best depended on their needs.

The Portal before them was the Fixed Portal being built by the Alliance. Once completed, it would turn the loose connection between Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms into a close one. From then on, the two continents would be
