An earth-shattering boom rang out across the sky.
A brilliant burst of flame appeared out of nowhere, like fireworks. The surge of power was even stronger than the devastating strike Archimonde had unleashed not long before.
Even Mount Hyjal trembled. Space shattered, and cracks spread across the sky. Yet those fragments of shattered space were also a blessing: they absorbed countless bursts of energy and swept them into other dimensions. Very little of that energy actually reached the ground below. Though the explosion was more powerful than Archimonde's earlier attack, the destruction it caused fell far short.
Archimonde was doomed. Watching that terrifying display from below, Rex held out no hope that Archimonde would survive. Had Archimonde been the protagonist, Rex might still have worried, but unfortunately for him, he was not.
Completely relieved, Rex stopped caring about the surges of power coming from the sky. This was not his home, after all. No matter how fierce the battle became or how much damage it caused, he felt no heartache.
The tremendous explosion in the sky continued, spreading along the World Tree and steadily working its way downward.
After this battle, Mount Hyjal's once-thick spatial barrier had been broken twice in succession. Even if space repaired itself in the future, it could never return to its former state. It would inevitably remain weak, making this place an easy entry point for creatures living in the Twisting Nether. When that happened, all manner of strange and unsavory beings would pour through.
Time ticked by. Fifteen minutes. Half an hour. An hour. Archimonde still had not appeared. That was enough to show that he had either died or fled back to the Twisting Nether. Whichever it was, the news could not have been better for the allied forces.
Killing Archimonde would eliminate
