The sun had already slipped down to the crest of the western mountains. Its waning light slanted across the land, bathing everything in a hazy rose-colored glow.

The sunset stained the white clouds drifting through the blue sky red and edged them with glittering borders. Before long, those clouds turned into rosy evening clouds.

Blond hair streamed in the wind, catching the light of the setting sun. A pale arm extending from a close-fitting mage's robe waved.

Rex used the Warcraft System to send the Archmage a message, ordering him to open a Portal.

This was a new function that had appeared after the Warcraft System's upgrade. The base had entered the last known era, and Rex had gained a wealth of benefits. He was not the only one; the Archmage had benefited as well. Had the Paladin survived, he too would have received them.

This function allowed him to transmit his voice across vast distances. As long as the Warcraft System could sense the Archmage's presence, Rex could issue orders to him. Unfortunately, it only worked one way. Rex could give the Archmage orders, but the Archmage could not communicate with Rex, which was something of a disappointment.

The Archmage carried out Rex's order without hesitation. He waved his staff, and a hazy, swirling purple Portal appeared before Rex.
