A hazy, ethereal light shimmered over the Portal. Standing before it, Rex paused for a few seconds before finally stepping forward.
Light flashed over his body, and Rex vanished.
When the light flashed again, Rex had left the Eastern Kingdoms. By the time he reappeared, he was already in Kalimdor.
Rex turned to look at the Fixed Portal behind him and smiled, then strode toward the Night Elves' settlement.
Rex had come from Gilneas to seek the Night Elves' help. He no longer concerned himself with the search for the Tidehunter; what mattered now was the strength he could muster. Faced with a Demigod, he had to exercise the utmost caution. Rex felt that having a Demigod backing them up was the safest approach. After all, the Tidehunter might suddenly unleash a burst of power, or Rex might have underestimated his strength. Either could easily lead to unexpected trouble. Rex did not believe the Tidehunter could escape their assault. What truly worried him was that the Tidehunter's final counterattack might cost his strike team some of its members.
In Rex's eyes, such sacrifices were unnecessary. Anyone qualified to join the strike team had to be a Heroic Powerhouse.
Losing even one would be a serious blow to the Alliance. Several Heroic Powerhouses from the Alliance had fallen in the Battle for Mount Hyjal, and their deaths had pained Rex deeply. Several of them had been humans. Even though Gilneas and Stormwind City could not stand each other, Rex had only ever considered weakening Stormwind City's power, never reducing the number of its Heroic Powerhouses.
Every Heroic Powerhouse was a treasure of humanity. They protected their people and allowed humanity to stand strong in Azeroth.
