Bad news arrived, forcing Rex to delay his departure from Peace Town.
Looking at the intelligence report in his hand, Rex felt as though he had shot himself in the foot.
He had made the act so convincing that it had become reality.
Rex had only come to Peace Town as a feint, providing cover for Ulysses to launch a surprise attack on Darrowshire. But now things had changed. While in Peace Town, Rex had received intelligence that the Ogres in Alterac City had mobilized and were heading toward Peace Town.
This was terrible news. These Ogres had no patience whatsoever. They had chosen to go to war with the Kingdom of Gilneas outright, and they intended to seize the initiative by striking first.
The discovery chilled Rex's gaze. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that he could put the Ogres under so much pressure.
He had pushed them into going to war with him. But it was too late to discuss anything else now. The Ogre army was marching toward Peace Town, and they clearly were not coming for a picnic or to live peacefully alongside its inhabitants. They were coming for war.
Rex put down the report and began to think.
Although this was not a good time to fight the Ogres, Rex would not shy away from war if they dared to provoke him.
Peace Town and the forces in the Alterac Mountains would have to fight sooner or later. Rex had known that when he established Peace Town.
The establishment of Peace Town had cut off the main route out of the Alterac Mountains. Anyone wishing to leave would have to find another way. But a lake lay to the west of the Alterac Mountains, making that direction a dead end. With two routes
