The sky dimmed, and hazy darkness shrouded the land. Before anyone knew it, another night had arrived. Lordaeron City still bustled with voices after dark. These days, its brilliant lights had begun to turn it into a city that never slept.

Countless Magic Crystals and candles illuminated the streets.

The Military District of Lordaeron City, however, lay silent. Compared with the other bustling streets, it was like this every day. There was still some noise during daylight hours, but once night fell, everything grew quiet, without a sound.

At this moment, though, the Military District was slightly different from usual, particularly the square deep within it.

This should have been where the troops conducted their daily drills. Soldiers trained here during the day, but at night it became the quietest place of all, without a soul in sight. Now, however, a dense mass of people stood in the square.

At a rough glance, there were several thousand of them, all standing motionless.

They stood in their respective ranks. Ulysses stood at the very front, quietly watching every movement of the Archmage before him.

The Archmage made few movements. He held his staff in silence, but he was not entirely still. His somewhat pale lips moved constantly. He was chanting, uttering strangely distinctive words that ultimately formed long strings of syllables.

The staff in the Archmage's hand was green, an utterly pure green, yet it was barely noticeable in the darkness. During the day, its gem gave off a soft glow, but at night it was dull and lightless, blending into the darkness as though it were a fake.

As the Archmage continued, however, a faint glow began to gather on the green crystal gem. The light was
