The wind kept blowing.
It was late autumn, and the gusts carried a deep chill. Rex stood atop the newly built city wall.
The atmosphere of battle had already descended. After their hurried march, the ogres had successfully reached the outskirts of Peace Town.
The ogres had given Rex little opportunity. After a single day of forced marching, they had stopped on the second day and returned to a normal pace.
After weighing his options, Rex had abandoned the idea of an attack.
The ogres' behavior seemed strange, giving Rex the distinct impression that they were deliberately trying to lure him in.
Their strategy for this battle was to defend, then counterattack. Rex and Jaina had settled on it after discussing their options as soon as the ogre army began moving.
Jaina was no mere pretty face. Over the years, she had honed her abilities.
She had now become a pillar of Kul Tiras, commanding a portion of the Kingdom of Kul Tiras's forces, and had fought several tough battles.
Against whom? Naturally, the creatures of the sea, as well as the pirates whose numbers had begun to swell.
Although Tir Kul Tiras was no longer as powerful as it had been before the Second War, which had inflicted devastating losses, it had recovered some of its strength over the years. In particular, the upheaval caused by the Undead Scourge had never reached it. Before it could take action, the Scourge's fortunes had already collapsed. It had participated in the final battle, the battle for Lordaeron City, after which the Undead Scourge had been all but eradicated.
Kul Tiras had not declined as it had in the original history, eventually sinking so low that even pirates could bully it. That had truly been a tragedy.
