Hellfire Peninsula had lost its former beauty. It had become a barren, exhausted wilderness devoid of any sign of life. Only the Dark Portal still stood there, bearing witness to the bloodshed that had once swept through this land.
The cracked, parched red soil felt hard beneath his feet. Rex lightly touched it, and scorching heat seeped into his hand. The temperature on Hellfire Peninsula was extremely high.
It was already around forty degrees. Rex had barely arrived on Hellfire Peninsula before sweat began beading on his forehead. He wiped it away, then took off his armor.
"This damned weather," he complained.
"No, I should say this damned demonic power. Its corruption has already become this severe."
Rex's eyes kept sweeping across the ground. Just ahead of him, crimson flames continually rose from the fissures in the cracked earth.
This was not how Hellfire Peninsula should have been. The dense demonic power in those flames told Rex that this was all the demons' handiwork.
This was a demon-controlled region, and the demons had already begun reshaping it.
Reshaping things was one of the demons' most basic abilities.

Illidan was just such a case. He carried demonic power within him.
And demonic power did not affect only people or living creatures. Inanimate things were affected as well. Trees exposed to demonic corruption, for instance, would mostly die and wither away. Yet some plants could endure it, absorbing the demonic power and transforming into something unnatural, becoming more aggressive and uglier.
The demons' greatest ability, however, was reshaping their environment.
Humans adapted to their environment, whereas demons altered it.
Rather than adapting to the environment,
