The hazy night shrouded the land. Everywhere he looked, there was nothing but darkness.
Tap, tap, tap!
Footsteps rang out steadily as Marshall walked along the silent street.
It was already late at night.
Even in Lordaeron City, known as the city that never slept, the streets had settled from bustle into silence.
Compared with the cities of Rex's previous life, Lordaeron City fell far short. Though it claimed to be a city that never slept, its crowds began to thin after nine at night. Past ten, hardly anyone could be found, and now it was nearly midnight.
Not a single pedestrian could be seen on the broad street.
Only the streetlamps strung along either side still cast scattered pools of light, driving back the hazy darkness.
A group made its way quickly along the silent street.
Marshall hurried along with his guards. They were traveling on foot rather than riding mounts.
His face was calm, but a closer look revealed subtle differences: the corners of his mouth were slightly raised, and flashes of delight flickered in his eyes from time to time.
All of this showed that Marshall was nowhere near as calm inside as he appeared. At that moment, his heart was filled with joy.
His steps were rather light, and he had worn that same expression ever since leaving Rex's mansion.
Marshall was the very model of a noble. What did that mean? His body had developed sideways. He was not particularly tall, standing at around one meter seventy. In Rex's previous life, that would have been a respectable height, but Azeroth was a world of supernatural power.
Humans were generally over ten centimeters taller, averaging around one meter ninety.
At one meter seventy, he was decidedly short.
There was no point bringing up dwarves and goblins
