A month had passed in the blink of an eye since Rex took office.
During that month, good news arrived, but bad news came as well.
The good news came from the Western Plaguelands. With Rex taking the region seriously and sending the archmage there, the situation had remained under control.
With the archmage's portals, the operation to hunt down the undead went smoothly.
Once their tracks were found, the undead had nowhere to run.
As though using a magnifying glass, the archmage tracked them down one by one and killed them.
Thus, once the archmage took action, the campaign against the undead in the Western Plaguelands produced immediate results, achieving a great deal in a short time.
Every day, Rex received reports from the Western Plaguelands, all detailing how many undead the archmage had wiped out that day, followed by yet more numbers.
Though these reports were rather monotonous, Rex still read them with relish every day.
There were not that many undead in the Western Plaguelands. As the archmage's campaign progressed smoothly, even those that had been hiding there began to be cleared out.
Good news kept coming from the archmage. The Western Plaguelands remained under control, and everything was moving in a favorable direction. In a few more days, all the region's problems would be resolved. Things were going smoothly there, but the same could not be said for the Eastern Plaguelands.
The problems in the Eastern Plaguelands began to grow serious.
Much of Rex's attention was drawn to the Eastern Plaguelands. After his last shipment of supplies to Outland, he had pushed even its affairs entirely out of his mind.
Some matters were more urgent than others. The Eastern Plaguelands was clearly an immediate crisis, whereas Outland, though important, would not begin to face real trouble
