Bright sunlight streamed down from the sky.

The Horde fared considerably better in this respect, since they lived in the Barrens on Kalimdor.

In terms of terrain, the Barrens and Hellfire Peninsula were much the same. Both were desolate expanses of land, with red earth stretching as far as the eye could see and not a patch of green in sight.

Yet barren as the Barrens were, their temperatures were still considerably lower than those of Hellfire Peninsula.
