Rex sat in his command tent, reviewing the battle reports arriving from the front.
Ever since the Alliance and the Horde had set foot in Outland.
The two enormous war machines that were the Alliance and the Horde had begun to turn.
In the game's future, the Alliance and the Horde would grow powerful enough to shape the course of events in Azeroth.
As Rex saw it, there were two reasons for this. First, none of the Alliance's or the Horde's member races were weak.
This was a major reason. Although it was important and played a decisive role, the other reason was just as vital.
That was the allies of the Alliance and the Horde. They were another major factor.
Azeroth was so vast that the Alliance and the Horde alone lacked the strength to occupy the entire world. With allies, however, things were different. Not only could they bolster their strength, but they could also quickly secure their position in a region and put down roots.
These allies, though called allies, were strictly speaking more like proxies.
They could not compare with the Alliance's actual members.
They had to obey the Alliance's orders. Rex did not believe for a moment that they had joined forces with the Alliance out of genuine goodwill. Some of its future allies might have joined voluntarily with friendly intentions, but in his view, most had merely been intimidated by the Alliance's overwhelming strength and forced to join.
As the Horde often declared, "Join the Horde or be destroyed by it."
What an overbearing declaration. It laid bare the Horde's attitude.
After the Alliance entered Outland, it began hunting down the demons that had escaped in Hellfire Peninsula. At the same time, it sent troops to the other regions of Outland to establish outposts.
