Rex followed the Naga through the water, studying his surroundings.

Thanks to his armor, his vision remained unaffected underwater, even in polluted water like this.

But he was in a foul mood. The pollution itself did not bother him; what concerned him was how quickly it spread, especially among the fish in Coilfang Reservoir.

He could clearly see what had become of the fish that, not long ago, had been food on his dinner plate.

Not only had they grown to more than three times their original size, but rows of sharp teeth had appeared along their mouths, and their scales had begun to rot.

Their overall appearance had become hideous and grotesque. They were no longer fit to eat, and they had become far more dangerous.

Just as Rex spotted one of these fish, it swam straight toward him at speed, then lunged at him and bit viciously into his armor.

Rex did not react to its attack. A guard was about to cut the fish to pieces with his Greatsword, but Rex waved him off. He wanted to see just how powerful its attack was.

Crack! That was not the sound of armor breaking, but of the fish's teeth snapping.

Even so, the fish did not give up its attack on Rex. Although it knew he was no easy prey, it kept swimming toward him, merely changing its angle before biting again.

It had some intelligence, then. Rex watched the fish before unleashing holy light from his hand, killing it outright.

He quickly continued after the Naga. It had been no more than a brief interruption, but it left him deeply troubled.
