Inside the command tent, Rex bent over his writing.
He processed the documents quickly, since many of them only needed his final signature.
For instance, many of those who had stayed behind at the Expeditionary Force camp had already submitted their recommendations. Rex only had to sign off on them.
When Rex was halfway through the documents, someone pulled aside the tent flap, and a sturdy figure walked in.
"Sit." Rex extended an arm and pointed to a seat.
"How is the investigation into the stolen supplies coming along?" Rex raised his head and looked at Tirion Fordring.
"It's nearly finished. Although everyone transporting the supplies was killed, and someone cleaned up the scene, it was too close to the camp. They couldn't possibly have erased every trace in such a hurry."
"I sent people to examine the remaining traces carefully. All the evidence points to the Horde," Tirion Fordring said.
"The Horde," Rex murmured thoughtfully.
After a long silence, Rex continued, "Do you think another faction might have deliberately framed the Horde to drive a wedge between us, so they could reap the benefits?"
"That's possible, but the evidence pointing to the Horde is rather overwhelming."
"Your Highness will understand once you see it yourself." Tirion Fordring did not commit himself to an absolute conclusion.
At that, Tirion Fordring took out a number of items. He gently swept the documents on the table aside to make room, then set the items down and extended an arm, inviting Rex to examine them.
Rex lowered his head and began examining the evidence Tirion Fordring had laid out. The more he looked, the darker his expression became.
