On the shores of Coilfang Reservoir, squads of Alliance and Horde warriors did not immediately attack Serpentshrine Cavern within the reservoir. Instead, they swam back and forth through the water.
The warriors selected for this operation against the Naga were all capable swimmers.
Anyone who could not swim would never have been brought here. After all, the battle against the Naga would take place underwater. Sending non-swimmers into it would have been sending them to their deaths, and Rex would never do such a thing.
After swimming for a while, the warriors of the Allied Forces plunged headfirst into the dark green liquid of Coilfang Reservoir.
The dark green liquid was disgusting and gave off a foul stench, so the warriors of the Allied Forces had taken some simple precautions, covering their faces. As they plunged into the liquid, streams of bubbles rose to the surface, showing that they were breathing.
The ability the Earthen Ring had developed for this operation, [Water Breathing], essentially allowed them to breathe underwater just as they would on land.
Even with [Water Breathing], however, being underwater still affected their breathing somewhat. It was not quite as effortless as breathing on land.
An abrupt transition from land to water was very uncomfortable. It was much like someone from the plains traveling to a high-altitude region. Many people struggled to adjust to the conditions there. To put it plainly, they lacked oxygen. In severe cases, they could barely breathe and had to carry an oxygen tank on their backs. But this did not last forever; they simply needed time to adjust.
After all, plenty of people lived at high altitudes. The fact that they survived there proved the point. Once someone had spent enough time acclimating, altitude sickness would no longer trouble them.
