Inside the Warcraft System world, at the Goblin Shop.

The goblin's face bloomed with a brilliant, flowerlike smile. Looking at Rex, he continued, "In ancient Azeroth, the waters of the Well of Eternity flowed endlessly. Taking a bottle there and filling it with some of that water would be nothing at all!"

"As long as you have this, you can travel to Ancient Times."

As he spoke, the goblin pulled a sheet of parchment from inside his clothes. The brown parchment was covered in exquisite patterns, and faint fluctuations of magic began radiating through the Goblin Shop.

In an instant, they spread throughout the shop. Even though Rex was not a mage, he could feel those fluctuations clearly. This parchment was plainly no ordinary object.

Rex was already quite familiar with the goblin's methods. By now, the goblin had thoroughly studied his needs and understood how his mind worked. He had prepared a few things well in advance and kept them on his person, waiting for Rex to arrive so he could begin his sales pitch.

"A Time Scroll. Use it, and you can return to Ancient Times, ten thousand years ago," the goblin finally said, his beaming face resembling a chrysanthemum.

Rex looked at the goblin without speaking. Traveling to Ancient Times was certainly a viable solution when he had no water from the Well of Eternity, but it came with difficulties. He could not simply go there and never come back; he needed a round trip. That meant buying two Time Scrolls at once. Rex knew the goblin's nature all too well. The reason he needed two was not that a single scroll would let him remain in Ancient Times forever.

A Time Scroll like this could not accomplish that. At most, it would allow him to stay
