The sun hung high in the sky.

Waves of heat streamed down over Tirisfal Glades.

In Lordaeron City, Rex, Ulysses, and Osborne walked along the street.

Once they left the noble district, their surroundings grew livelier. More pedestrians filled both sides of the street, and the cries of vendors gradually rose around them.

Lordaeron City was growing ever more prosperous. Rex could clearly feel it every time he walked through its streets.

The times were changing, and humanity was always advancing.

If one were to ask which race in Azeroth developed the fastest and made the greatest strides, there was only one answer.

Humans. The other races lagged far behind.

Human history spanned only a little over two thousand years.

In just over two thousand years, humans had become a major force in Azeroth, with a population in the tens of millions and formidable military might.

Had humanity not split into separate kingdoms and spent years fighting civil wars, they might not have dominated all of Azeroth, but the entire Eastern Kingdoms would certainly have been theirs.

Compared with humans, the other races had made little progress. The elves were a prime example.

Whether High Elves or Night Elves, they had grown complacent and set in their ways, making very little progress. The clearest sign was that their realms did not allow other races within their borders except as envoys. Letting other races settle there was utterly out of the question. The vast lands of the High Elves were populated entirely by elves, without a single outside race. The Night Elves were scarcely any better, their situation almost identical. They were branches of the same race, and although most of their customs had changed, one thing remained untouched: their hostility toward outsiders.

This was precisely where humans held an advantage.
