Thanks to our friend Ji-Moonlight's Sorrow for the tip. Thank you so much! This is the second update.
Standing on an opulent carpet, Rex took a small sip of the coffee a servant had brought him and surveyed the room as he quietly waited for Kael'thas to appear. This High Elf residence in Dalaran alone offered a glimpse of the whole. Exquisite-that was the only word Rex could find to describe everything he saw.
With their long lifespans, the High Elves' pursuit of refinement had reached a level that short-lived races such as humans could scarcely tolerate.
Take the furniture, for instance. Human furniture was made simply because humans valued simplicity and practicality. If they wanted something prettier, carving a few patterns into it was usually enough to make it a fine piece. Nobles might demand a higher standard and more intricate designs.
Yet in Kael'thas's residence, everything Rex saw, from the cup before him to the tables and chairs, would undoubtedly rank among the finest masterpieces in Gilneas. It was not that Gilnean craftsmen lacked the skill, but that no one would deliberately spend so much time making something merely for its appearance. A piece of furniture normally took a few days to make. Spending over a month to make it prettier might be acceptable, but no one would waste an entire year on it.
How many years did a person have in their lifetime? No one dared squander them like that without some important purpose. High Elves were different, however. Their long lifespans allowed them to pursue perfection down to the smallest detail. A self-mocking smile appeared on Rex's face. Even if they treated each year as a month, they would still outlive humans. Their cultures were different, and he evidently had yet to adjust.
