"I'm going to get my luggage."
Xia Mi ran out with a rapid patter of footsteps, then came running back just as quickly.
She was dragging an oversized suitcase with a rolled-up thick blanket tied to it, looking as though she really had nowhere to go and was preparing to sleep in a park or under a bridge alongside the homeless.
The corner of Amon's mouth twitched slightly. She was putting on quite an act.
Wait, given this girl's style, maybe it wasn't an act at all.
"Ow, it's really heavy."
The blanket had been soaked by the rain and was saturated with water. Xia Mi put on a strained expression.
She beckoned to him and said, "Bro, come help me out. Wring it dry."
Amon did not step forward to help. He said softly, "Leave it. Just toss it in the washing machine tomorrow. Come with me."
He led Xia Mi to the room across from his bedroom, opened the door, and walked in. The light that fell inside was hazy, countless specks of dust floated in the air, and a faint dusty smell washed over them.
This room was slightly smaller than Amon's and seemed not to have been used in a long time. Xia Mi looked over the furnishings. There was a bed, a desk and chair, and a wardrobe.
The wardrobe was covered in stickers, all of them cute cartoon characters. Winnie the Pooh and Peppa Pig plushies hung on the wall, while a Pikachu piggy bank sat on the desk.
The bed was made with pale yellow sheets and a pink quilt, and even the pillowcases were in shades of pink. The entire room had a distinctly girlish feel.
Looking at the marks on the wall left behind by an air conditioner that had been
