As the three-month deadline Amon had set drew ever closer, Naga's startup proposal was still gathering dust in a computer folder, while her StarCraft ladder ranking had soared like a rocket all the way to Grandmaster, her record dazzlingly bright.
Though she had drawn up several money-making plans, whenever she was about to put one into action, something always seemed to tug at her clothes... Perhaps it was the flashing "Match" button on the battle list, or perhaps it was another forum thread worth staying up all night to follow.
A proposal was always just a proposal, much like her perpetually empty wallet. To this day, Naga had yet to find any source of income.
Amon did not rush her, either. With his current income, adding another pair of chopsticks to the table was hardly a burden. Besides, keeping a Naga... a noble Second Generation Dragon... did not actually cost much.
She had no interest in the glittering luxuries displayed in shop windows. She did not chase after the latest-season handbags or obsess over limited-edition heels. She was the very model of an internet-addicted girl. Her daily expenses amounted to snacks and drinks, plus rent and twenty-four-hour electricity and internet bills. She even relied purely on skill in games and never spent money on them.
Whenever Amon went to see her, he would find the cold glow of the screen falling over her focused profile, empty Coke cans piled beside her. He could not help thinking that keeping a walking natural disaster for such a negligible cost was, no matter how he looked at it, a guaranteed profit.
Even if she did nothing but lazily coil up on the sofa and play games, that peace alone was worth the price... Besides, she was so pretty that she was a pleasure
