Amon's fingertips lightly brushed the edge of his Monocle as he dropped another bombshell. "Constantine is dead."
"Are you certain?" Light burst from Naga's eyes, molten gold seeming to flow beneath them. It was the look of a Hunter who had spotted perfect prey.
Although the spiritual influence of God's Blood had allowed her to glimpse the great existence beyond the heavens and turn her faith toward the Gate of Truth, the authority of a Dragon King was still something she craved.
"Absolutely certain—Kassel College set a trap and killed the newly hatched Constantine. Norton was there as well, but he had no memories of being a Dragon King and had always believed himself to be an ordinary human. Only when Constantine died before his eyes was he provoked into awakening," Amon answered.
"Did Norton devour Constantine's remains?"
"No. Perhaps his newly awakened state was unstable, or perhaps the people of Kassel posed too great a threat to him. He did not do so."
"In other words—this is a Dragon King separated from his own Twin, all alone?" Naga could barely suppress the excitement in her heart.
"You could understand it that way." Amon nodded.
Naga restrained her excitement and calmed down again. "It seems your intelligence network is very powerful. You even know secrets this well-hidden—what do you think of Kassel College's defenses?"
Amon glanced at her and immediately understood that although she had some confidence in dealing with Dragon King Norton, she ultimately did not wish to face the thunderous wrath of an awakened Monarch head-on. Instead, she had set her sights on Kassel College.
Even though Kassel had killed Constantine and driven Norton away, she still considered Kassel the softer target.
