"It was him—" Chen Motong's breathing quickened. She abruptly snapped out of her Profiling state, gasping for air as fine beads of sweat formed on her forehead. "Chu Zihang! He really existed! He entered this Nibelungen! They encountered Odin—"
Finn fell silent for a moment, then said with certainty, "It seems our differing perception from Lu Mingfei has something to do with Odin."
The car drove on for who knew how long.
Then, all of a sudden, the sky cleared.
The thick clouds seemed to have been wiped away by an invisible hand, revealing the clear night sky behind them. The moon hung at the edge of the clouds, casting down silvery-white light. The fog had dispersed as well, and everything around them became clear.
They found themselves driving along a rather secluded riverside road. Rows of poplars lined the roadside, while the river shimmered beneath the moonlight.
Caesar stopped the car, and the three of them turned to look behind them.
Zero Elevated Bridge was gone. Behind them lay only the road they had taken and the distant lights of the city.
"We..." Chen Motong's voice carried a trace of disbelief. "Did we leave the Nibelungen?"
They had stumbled into the realm of the dead and met that terrifying, awe-inspiring Dragon King, yet they had escaped so easily. It was as though they had merely had a dream.
But Chu Zihang had died in there.
Together with his powerful Hybrid father.
Neither of them had made it out.
"Maybe it just wasn't our time to die—" Finn said lightly.
He had noticed that something had been off about Caesar since earlier. Caesar had looked distracted the whole time, so he asked, "President, what's wrong?"
Caesar shook his head. "No—nothing."
Chen Motong took out her phone and glanced at it.
