Seeing that things were going smoothly for them, Pupula vanished in a flash and returned to the Fairy Fountain.
She raised a hand and traced an intricate pattern in the air, the bells on her wrist ringing with every movement. When she finished, her attire returned to its original form.
Her beautiful butterfly wings and the star-shaped mark that had faded from her forehead reappeared. Her golden hair fell loose over her shoulders, and her white dress with yellow accents was as voluminous as a wedding gown, yet simple in design. The fabric looked remarkably light. As a gateway of light appeared, she chuckled softly. The bells on her wrist were gone, yet their sweet chimes still seemed to linger...
The moment she reached the Palace entrance, she sensed something was wrong. Once inside, she found Dai Weiwei unconscious, just as she had feared. Dai Weiwei was in terrible shape, her face deathly pale and her lips utterly bloodless. She was even trembling faintly, her forehead covered in cold sweat.
Her clothes were in tatters, and her wings were too awful to look at. Green potion still dripped from them, making them look about as bad as rotten vegetable leaves soaked in filthy gutter water.
Although the potion had no smell, Pupula involuntarily backed away a few steps and averted her eyes.
She wasn't disgusted by her subordinate! Absolutely not! She swore! Ahem... it was just that she looked so...
As though determined to prove she truly wasn't disgusted by Dai Weiwei, she decisively reached out to help her up. She had originally intended to pick her up outright, but when she tried, Dai Weiwei didn't budge. She tried harder, but still couldn't move her... How embarrassing. =͟͟͞͞(꒪⌓꒪*)
So she could only support Dai Weiwei, but as soon as she touched her, her hand accidentally brushed against her wings.
Instantly, as though she had touched something filthy, she sprang up and leaped away, and so...
Dai Weiwei had the great honor of falling back onto the floor. At this awkward moment, Jun Yi's seal had already worn off and her injuries had begun to heal, only for her to hit the floor. The intense pain jolted Dai Weiwei awake.
She opened her eyes to see the goddess standing before her, looking as though she had touched something filthy, completely unlike her usual wise, beautiful, noble, and composed self. Dai Weiwei's eyes filled with shock and disbelief. Was the goddess disgusted by her? No, no, that was impossible!
Fortunately, Pupula reacted extremely quickly. After all, she had been a goddess for so many years that she still possessed basic control over her expressions. She swiftly composed her face.
When Dai Weiwei looked again, she saw the same noble, beautiful goddess who gazed down upon all things in the world. Dai Weiwei breathed a sigh of relief, but a seed had already been planted in her heart. In the future, that seed would take root and sprout, until... it turned against its master.
After breathing that sigh of relief, she barely lasted another moment before passing out again, missing the flicker of anxiety in Pupula's eyes.
Clearly, Pupula was rattled too. After all, a subordinate who had served her for so many years was bound to notice something. Fortunately, Dai Weiwei hadn't spotted anything amiss, but Pupula still needed to heal her as quickly as possible. There were plenty of tasks waiting for Dai Weiwei to do.
With that thought, she abandoned the idea of supporting her by hand. She would much rather use magic than her hands. Even though her magic was somewhat suppressed in the Flower Fairy Kingdom, she still didn't want to touch her again.
With a wave of her hand, Dai Weiwei floated into the air and slowly shifted position, white light surrounding her. As she rose, green potion dripped onto the floor, dirtying its formerly spotless surface. Pupula watched in dismay.
This was the floor she had spent so much time drawing talismans to create!
