"Bieyun, Tabas is a good boy."
"I know."
"But you can't keep spending time with him."
"Wen Li, listen to me. I'm doing this for the sake of your back."
Sen Lijiu: ???? Do you even hear what you're saying?
"What do you mean?"
The fluctuations in Bieyun's consciousness faltered for a moment, then returned to normal. "Nothing. Just focus on your cultivation, and don't forget what you said. You wanted to catch up with your older brothers."
Sen Lijiu: Actually, I just wanted to feel sad for a bit, but Bieyun wouldn't give me the chance.
"Got it. Where should we go next? Any suggestions, Bieyun?" Sen Lijiu agreed aloud, but as for what he was thinking...
Bieyun sighed helplessly. "Let's visit the Ancient Spirit Fairy Clan." They had quite a collection of books there.
Unaware of what Bieyun had in mind, Sen Lijiu readily agreed, summoned Mujiu, and flew toward the Ancient Spirit Fairy Clan.
Who knew whether Sen Lijiu would still go if he learned what Bieyun was planning...
Mujiu dutifully carried them the whole way without cracking a single joke. It wasn't that it didn't want to—it didn't dare...
Nine Nether might not have been there, but Bieyun was. Mujiu couldn't bear even a little of that oppressive aura. Besides, Bieyun specialized in formations. If he put a seal on it, it would have no way to complain.
Naturally, Bieyun and Sen Lijiu both knew what Mujiu was thinking, but knowing was one thing, and doing anything about it was another.
Bieyun had no intention of intervening. His younger sister was still recovering, and he hadn't forgotten the terrible state Nine Nether had been in. He and Nine Nether had known each other since they came into being. Now that she was injured, he would have harbored resentment even if Mujiu hadn't been responsible.
He was deliberately exerting that pressure, of course. Sen Lijiu knew, but didn't intervene. Never mind Bieyun—he still held a bit of a grudge himself.
A little harmless roughhousing was fine, so long as Bieyun got it out of his system. Bieyun knew where to draw the line, of course. After teaching Mujiu a small lesson, he let it off.
Mujiu soon reached the vicinity of the Ancient Spirit Fairy Clan, and from above, they spotted a figure in blue below.
The man saw them too. He raised his staff. "Poem of Blazing Flames!"
A fireball hurtled toward them. Mujiu lifted its petals slightly, and the fireball scattered as though it had merely fanned it away, effortlessly.
Ignoring him, Mujiu slowly descended. Sen Lijiu stepped down, his eyes as calm as ever.
Looking into his eyes, Edwin knew they were still just as distant from each other.
Gathering himself, Edwin put away his staff and apologized to Sen Lijiu:
"I'm very sorry. I had no choice just now. Please don't take offense."
Mujiu started muttering again. "Heh, do you think I believe that? You opened with your ultimate move. Ooh, Poem of Blazing Flames~ Aren't you impressive."
Sen Lijiu couldn't help chuckling at its words and patted it.
"All right, go back to the Origin Realm."
"Yes."
Mujiu turned into a speck of light and entered Sen Lijiu's body, though it had actually returned to the Origin Realm.
Only after seeing to Mujiu did Sen Lijiu turn to Edwin with a faint smile.
"Mm, it's fine. I understand." He didn't care anyway.
How could Edwin fail to see it? Sen Lijiu didn't care about him at all.
Edwin lowered his eyes slightly, hiding the desolation in them. He didn't know why he cared so much about what Sen Lijiu thought of him.
The mere thought that Sen Lijiu didn't care about him made his heart ache dully.
What was wrong with me? It looks like I'll have to get checked when I have time. I must have been overworking lately. That has to be why.
Hidden off to the side, Aier could only sigh as he watched.
"As if that could make His Highness like you. Still lying to yourself, huh? Heh ∠( ᐛ "∠)_ watching the show."
