Mo Yun used his movement technique and sped along, soon finding Liu Xiyan hunting aberrations in a village.
These so-called aberrations were the creatures before him: somewhat illusory in appearance, wreathed in black energy, capable of unleashing various elemental powers out of thin air, and possessing bizarre means of attack.
Calling them creatures was not entirely accurate, either. Aberrations were special beings that existed between reality and illusion, and could only be born within the Ruins.
Mo Yun remembered a conjecture in an ancient text he had read recently: these aberrations were most likely monsters born from a subtle reaction between the Ruins' special field domain and the lingering resentment of the beings that had died there.

Strictly speaking, these aberrations could neither die nor be destroyed.
Even if they were annihilated through brute force, they could reform a few months later.
As long as the special field domain within the Ruins remained, as long as the Ruins themselves remained, these aberrations would never truly disappear.
Gathering his wandering thoughts, Mo Yun focused and walked toward Liu Xiyan.
