Demon Emperor Daochen looked at him in confusion, not quite understanding what he meant.
Did this fellow naively think the two of them had become partners?
The Demon Emperor had always remained completely on guard against the God of the Void.
Besides, the Primordial World was in crisis and already had an enormous Black-Robed Army to contend with.
If the God of the Void attacked from the other side now, the Primordial World's fall would probably be only a matter of time.
That was why he was unwilling to turn hostile.
"Sure. If you're willing, I'd like to hire you to defend the Primordial World alongside me. The Black-Robed Army keeps growing, and it's at war with the Primordial World right now. I'm about to head back to help."
Ancient Tiger nodded. "It's an honor to fight for the Demon Emperor. If possible, I'd like a Heavenly Dao Core as payment."
With a hint of self-mockery, he said, "Come to think of it, I might be the only fellow who didn't get a Heavenly Dao Core during this mission!"
That was also why he felt somewhat disheartened. Others were already on the path to merging with their Heavenly Dao Cores, while he had fallen a step behind most of them.
If he continued down the path of fighting for supremacy, his eventual ending probably wouldn't be a happy one.
Of course, the Little Demon Emperor had played a part in this too. In private, he had told Ancient Tiger a great deal about the competition.
Although the vast majority of the powerhouses would not all die, and most would become members of a newly ascended Heavenly Dao Realm expert's faction, even within a faction, some people were closer to the leader than others.
Take the current Demon Emperor, for instance.
