Tongtian and Yuanshi hovered silently above the Eastern Seashore, their figures as transparent as ghosts.
Watching Laozi below, dressed in animal hides and living like a primordial human, eating raw flesh and drinking blood, both clicked their tongues in amazement.
"Elder Brother, what are you doing? The Human Race is frail. Although their primordial spirits are pure and they are born with innate Dao bodies, they are still among the weakest races in the Primordial World. Elder Brother believes his opportunity to attain the Dao lies with the Human Race, but who knows whether he is right or wrong?"
Tongtian frowned slightly, plainly puzzled by Laozi's decision to seal away all his memories, primordial spirit, and magical power, then enter the Human Race to live like a primitive man.
"Indeed. The Human Race has received no instruction. Though they possess intelligence, they are inferior even to ordinary members of the Demon Race. I cannot fathom how Nüwa attained the Dao and became a Sage through them, much less received such a vast amount of heavenly Dao merit."
Yuanshi, too, gazed toward the Eastern Seashore with profound bewilderment.
After the banquet at the Heavenly Court ended, perhaps spurred on by Daochen and Nüwa, Yuanshi and Tongtian had not returned to Mount Kunlun. Instead, they had come straight to the Eastern Seashore.
Laozi's Evil Corpse had already spent thousands of years contemplating outside the Eastern Seashore. Knowing their elder brother as they did, he would never have stayed so patiently in one place unless he had truly grasped something.
If Laozi could gain some insight from the Human Race, perhaps they could discover their own opportunities to attain the Dao through them as well.
Yet what baffled them was that they had watched for nearly a thousand years.
