The Nine Great Wilderness Forms Liu Xing practiced were top-tier external martial arts, but against a soul spirit that existed as spiritual energy, he had virtually no chance to fight back.
After dodging more than a dozen times in succession, Liu Xing grew increasingly tense. The cave was small, after all. If he slipped up and the dragon-shaped soul spirit pounced on him, heaven only knew what would happen.
The dragon-shaped soul spirit was deeply frustrated by its repeated failures as well. It let out a low, rumbling dragon cry that echoed through the cave, making it seem all the more imposing.
As though answering that dragon cry, a yellow glow suddenly rose from within Liu Xing's body. The rabbit-shaped yellow phantom appeared out of thin air and blocked the way in front of him. The dragon-shaped soul spirit was lunging at Liu Xing just then, and when it saw that this tiny yellow phantom actually dared stand in its path, it let out another furious roar.
The yellow phantom neither dodged nor retreated. It opened its tiny, three-lobed mouth and calmly took a deep breath. Strangely enough, the seemingly mighty dragon-shaped soul spirit seemed to fall into a vortex from which it could not escape, and was sucked into that tiny mouth in an instant.
The sight was utterly bizarre. Compared with the dragon-shaped soul spirit, the little yellow phantom was minuscule, yet it swallowed the spirit whole like a great whale drawing in water. Without seeing it firsthand, it would have been hard to imagine.
After swallowing the dragon-shaped soul spirit, the yellow phantom smacked its lips, looking as satisfied as though it had enjoyed a gourmet delicacy, then darted back into Liu Xing's body with a whoosh.
Perhaps Liu Xing's body had grown accustomed to the intrusion of divine sense, for this time he felt none of the discomfort he had experienced before. He also sensed the yellow phantom conveying a message of I'm full! Then it fell asleep inside him once more.
The sudden attack from the fiery-red dragon apparition had already struck Liu Xing as wondrous, but now he was certain that the truly wondrous thing was the yellow phantom that had burrowed into his body!
Fortunately, despite having this yellow phantom inside him, Liu Xing felt no real discomfort, so for the moment he could not be bothered to ponder its origins.
Recalling the thousand-mile "divine sight" that had been like opening a heavenly eye, Liu Xing remembered that there should have been an exceptionally bright point of light inside this red Mysterious Cave. With the dragon-shaped soul spirit no longer attacking him, he began searching carefully.
A short while later, Liu Xing stopped in the very center of the cave and crouched down to examine a fiery-red Red Round Stone beside his feet.
The cave's walls were smooth, and there was no debris on the ground. The only thing that stood out was this Red Round Stone.
The Red Round Stone was not large, shaped like a pigeon's egg and smooth all over. Its fiery-red color seemed to have seeped deep into the stone, without the slightest trace of any other hue.
Ever since the yellow phantom had entered Liu Xing's body, his sensitivity to spiritual energy had increased many times over without his realizing it. Although he could sense no fluctuations of spiritual energy from the Red Round Stone, he kept getting the feeling that it contained an unimaginably vast amount of energy.
Curious, Liu Xing picked up the Red Round Stone. It felt gently cool like jade, while a warm current flowed into his body along the paths the yellow phantom had previously raced through.
For a moment, Liu Xing felt comfortable from head to toe, as though all one hundred and eight thousand pores in his body had opened at once. That feeling of ease was beyond anything words could describe.
Stranger still, after Liu Xing picked up the Red Round Stone, the red radiance filling the cave gradually faded, leaving his surroundings dark.
Although this mysterious cave was close to the volcanic crater, its red radiance had actually come from this tiny stone. Liu Xing found that truly wondrous. Apart from its unusual color, there was nothing special about the Red Round Stone, so how could it emit such dazzling red light?
Although the red stone could give off red light, once it was in Liu Xing's hand, it no longer looked particularly brilliant, as though he had absorbed its radiance.
Never mind Liu Xing, who knew little about the Cultivation World—even a seasoned elder of that world might not have recognized the origins of this Red Round Stone.
Everything in the universe moved according to the heavenly dao. From a vast galaxy down to a speck of dust, all lay within the governance of the heavenly dao laws.
Spiritual energy was naturally occurring, free-floating energy found in every corner of the universe. Although its concentration varied, nowhere was entirely devoid of it.
Connors Star was known as a garbage planet because its spiritual energy was so sparse that it was utterly unsuitable for human cultivation, let alone for spiritual energy to condense into an Innate Supreme Treasure.
Yet on such an immense planet, however sparse the spiritual energy might be, its total amount would still be astonishing if it could all be gathered together.
Sky-Peak Volcano had formed a natural fire vein on Connors Star, which could gather the fire spiritual energy of the entire planet. But because the planet's spiritual energy was sparse, this gathering process was extremely slow. Even a high-level cultivator on the planet would have been unable to detect such gradual shifts in spiritual energy.
Connors Star had existed for billions of years, and the age of Sky-Peak Volcano was likewise measured in billions. Over such an immense span of time, however sparse the spiritual energy gathered by the fire vein might have been, it had accumulated to an astonishing degree.
The Red Round Stone Liu Xing had obtained was fire vein spirit jade, which could form only when fire spiritual energy became extraordinarily concentrated. It could be counted among the natural treasures that were exceedingly rare even across the entire universe.
Spirit stones were the most commonly used resources in the Cultivation World. Whether for cultivation, artifact forging, or pill refining, spirit stones had to be consumed. Thus, they served as the universal medium of exchange in the Cultivation World, and their value could not be measured in worldly wealth.
And the piece of fire vein spirit jade Liu Xing had obtained was the finest of the finest, its quality truly rare!
After all, how could ordinary spirit stones compare with fire vein spirit jade formed over hundreds of millions of years?
